Title: People of the Republic
Post by: candicesparks on July 29, 2011, 10:11:13 PM
Greetings to all you Wyomingnites and prospective Wyomingnites; I'm Candice Sparks. I am brand new to this online community. I currently live in Newport News, Virginia with my husband, Davy Sparks. I'm interested in checking Wyoming out real soon because I'm inquiring about joining the Free State Project there. I heard about New Hampshire's Free State Project, but I'm not too fond of living that far north. I like the New Hampshire's Free Staters ideas regarding the true meaning of freedom and their zeal for it. However, I have been looking into checking out Wyoming because of it's isolation from crowded regions, relatively small population, relatively low cost & more of a simplistic lifestyle, and the sense of indepenedence & autonomy from statism. I am an aspiring entrepreneur, but I don't want to operate my businesses within the confines of the crumbling de facto's economy. I am also a new Republic, not a Republican. I am not at all affiliated with any political party at all. I no longer want to live in an area where I am subjected to layers of governement rules, codes, and bureaucracy because it is nothing more than a form of Socialism/Communism/Marxism which goes completely against my Christian beliefs. Virginia is a beautiful state, but it comes with some very serious problems, in particularly areas like Newport News, Hampton, VA Beach, and other major cities & town. I found that most all the people I met so far are statists in some form. Many are strong proponents of government welfare/intervention programs which surprised me a bit. I thought many people in Virginia were more freedom lovers, but boy was I wrong about that. I've noticed in most cases whenever I express my ideas about having a much smaller government, far less laws, and freedom in general I either experience blank looks, passive aggression, or some cases, blunt aggression against me. These people have little to no idea about how this system proports evil and wicked works such as lies, theft, terror, tyrnny, and murder. I'm at a point in my life that I can no longer support a system that commit thefts, terrorism, tyranny, unjust/unGodly wars, and all other manners of evil in good conscience.

Welcome to the forum Candice.

As an 'easterner' myself, I can echo most of your sentiments.

I am looking to get the hell out from this "megalopolis" myself, and (hopefully) very soon.

You need to read these forums, particularly recent threads in this sub-forum to disabuse yourself of the notion that Free State Wyoming is even slightly similar to the New Hampshire Free State Project. About the only thing that FSP and FSW have in common is that the folks who identify with each of the two "groups" (and that term should be used very loosely) truly desire individual liberty.

Welcome, Candice! Please do read as much of the forum as you can as that's the fastest way to get to know us. Just in case you missed them, a good place to start is here - information for new members: http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswforum/index.php?board=31.0 (http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswforum/index.php?board=31.0)

And here - frequently asked questions: http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswforum/index.php?board=32.0

Lots more information about Wyoming itself here: http://www.freestatewyoming.org/wyoming-links.html (http://www.freestatewyoming.org/wyoming-links.html)  and that includes climate and weather. You'll find that Wyoming is just as far north of Virginia as New Hampshire. The climate shouldn't be a serious obstacle, however, and even some of us oldsters from California have adapted to it very well. :)

I'm eager to talk with you and your husband. Come visit!

As a fellow Southron also interested in Wyoming, I'd like to say hello. Virginia is indeed beautiful, as is all of Dixie. The problems that you mentioned are usually concentrated in urban, and sub-urban areas of the South. You can thank the Yankees and Scalawags for that. Don't get too down about Dixie though. You still have a lot to be proud of as a Southron, despite all the attempts of the PC crowd to warp and distort our proud history and heritage. www.dixienet.org, www.southernnationalistnetwork.com, and www.southernheritage411.com are but a few places that you can go to read up on your Southern history/heritage if you're curious.

All that said, I completely understand your desire to get somewhere with less people, more room to stretch your legs, and not be in the middle of Yankeedom. Have fun, look around, and welcome to the forums.

Candice,

I was once from the Old Dominion myself (actually just across the James). You are waaay too close to Big Brother central. You will find things here a little different. A live and let live attitude, pro gun stance, less humidity, and sadly less trees (depending where you settle). Welcome to the forum, read lots and give your ideas freely.

Don't forget the book, "The Virginian" by Owen Wister, all about Wyoming.  :)  Started the western novel genre I believe.
