Title: Backyard Chicken Coop
Post by: BAR BAR 2 on November 03, 2013, 09:57:35 PM
Hi folks.
I have several of the little fiberglass huts the oil and gas companies used over the methane wells in the area. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, They are roughly a 4ft fibergalss cube that is put over the wells and guages and the correct name for them is a, "Frostbox".

Looking at them I was trying to come up with different uses for them and one idea that sticks out is as a backyard chicken coop. I'm not sure how many homesteaders we have around here, or if anyone is wanting to run a small amount of chickens.  Anyhow, these boxes can be configured in many different ways to house chickens, or even rabbits.

If someone has thoughts or ideas let me know and we can design something that will fit your needs. I was thinking of something along the lines of a chicken tractor, or even something stationary. The cost of the finished product would all depend on what all was involved with and needed for the build. I would be very open to trades as well.

I just thought I would throw this idea out there for those who would like to become less dependent on the grocery stores. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Tex

I'd be very interested. How big are they? How heavy? How much would they cost, delivered in Newcastle? What would need to be done to them? I can think of a number of applications besides chickens, but I want some of those too. :)
