One of those should work. If not got to www.awrmsignalcorps.org ? Verifiable News - WYOMING SHERIFFS PUT FEDERAL OFFICERS ON CHOKE-CHA
I could not find an original source - looked it up on the internet and that is the only place.
Anyway, down to the point. Basically the Wyoming Sheriff's Association want Feds to ask their permission to enter. And especially Bighorn County Sheriff Dave Mattis stated that all federal officials are forbidden to enter his county without his prior approval.
Here is part of the article as I can't post the whole thing due to the guidelines.
Sheriff Mattis stated:
"I am reacting to the actions of federal
employees who have attempted to deprive citizens of my county of their
privacy, their liberty, and their property without regard to
constitutional safeguards. I hope that more sheriffs all across America
will join us in protecting their citizens from the illegal activities of
the IRS, EPA, BATF, FBI, or any other federal agency that is operating
outside the confines of constitutional law. Employees of the IRS and the
EPA are no longer welcome in Bighorn County unless they intend to
operate in conformance to constitutional law."
This case is evidence that the Tenth Amendment is not yet dead in the
United States. It may also be interpreted to mean that political
subdivisions of a State are included within the meaning of the
amendment, or that the powers exercised by a sheriff are an extension of
those common law powers which the Tenth Amendment explicitly reserves to
the People, if they are not granted to the federal government and
specifically prohibited to the States.
THis is great news for us and our movement. The 10th amendment really ain't dead after all. And the REAL law enforcement is on our side. We just need sheriffs like this in every county of Wyoming and then in every state and we'd be well on our way to a freer country. Hopefully we will back the real men in law enforcement like Dave Mattis who really do their job of upholding the law. And maybe a few of us could get elected as sheriff's as well. Just a thought.
That's all,
J

Oh and I forgot to post but the date of that article is:

Sorry about that.

It appears that I may have been wrong on the date of the above article. It was originally an article from Sierra Times : SHERIFFS PUT FEDS ON CHOKE CHAINS, posted 7/24/00; I believe the one I posted is it. Also, this sheriff may not be quite as anti-feds as we had thought (see the above thread) but I believe he is still on our side. A few of the quotes attributed to him in some of the articles may not be his. Anyway, he is still a very good man and definitely on our side for the most part, and we definitely need more sheriffs like him or even more extreme, to make Wyoming a freer state. Move here and help make it work!

To JSantori:
A pleasant surprise. I just moved here (to Big Horn County) about a month ago. Sheriff Mathis is running for re-election this coming November. He's got my vote!

Dave Mattis is no longer sheriff here, and honestly having lived here a while now it does not hurt my feelings one bit.
I'll not go into much detail here for many reasons but corruption was far from unheard of.
Secondly, from what I gather it was Mattis' predecessor who basically implemented this policy.
Lastly, Mattis pushed and got his jail built----large enough to contract out and house prisoners from other areas to make money.
Not a friend of liberty by a long shot.

I agree with you on that Ray. I dont know how Blackburn will be. Are you aware of any of his policies? He seems to be an honest man.
Fellow bighorner

A lot of the folks I know who have dealt with Blackburn think he's a total nut---I can't go into why publicly.
I hear he's moving the sherrifs dept headquarters up to Lovell---further form here is better.

This story is still making its rounds on various forums and reading it got my curiosity about WY really piqued.
I'm very libertarian-minded, and of course a citizen fully aware of the importance of being a rifleman. I really doubt I'll end up moving to WY but I at least have to look around and see what's going on out there. Just in case. ;D

Welcome Yonder!
You never know. You just might end up in WY. There's lots of good people here and even more affordable and beautiful land. Lots of places to shoot a rifle. Not too many infringements or laws. That's why I'm here.
Take a look around the forum. Set a spell. Take your shoes off. Y'all come back now, ya' hear? (I can just hear that old Beverly Hillbillies theme song now) ;D

Hi Yonder. Just in case what? That case is going to happen, is happening, if I have guessed a'right what you mean. Things are really dire right now! The U.S. Government is about ready to have themselves another "terrorist" event that they will concoct, and then whatever liberties you think you still have will be gone bye bye. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. e!

I am new to this forum and I am just now getting to read some of the posts. I can tell you that Big Horn County is in much worse shape since Blackburn took over in 2007. He has welcomed every federal agency that he can find into Big Horn County. The man has shown gross incompetency at every turn.
