Title: Hello! Nice to be here
Post by: apexpredator on April 05, 2007, 03:44:15 PM
Hello folks!

My name is Jeff, from a small town in Pennsylvania.  I'm 26 years old, have a degree in biology/chemistry and am not sure where I want to go with my life now.  I've been travelling around quite a bit, spent the winter in northern Minnesota right on the Canadian border and this summer I'll be working for the Grand Teton Lodge Company in Wyoming.  I'm a libertarian politically and a "gun-nut" since I can remember.  I'm very much looking forward to coming out to Wyoming and getting my first taste of the American West.  While I'm not sure if I'll be staying in Wyoming after the summer season, although I'd certainly prefer to stay out there and try to do most of the 2Kmiles of snow-mobile trails out there, I'd like to meet some FSW'ers and get a feel for the concept.  I've read Bostons Gun Bible and have corresponded with him once before.

Thats about it for my pithy introduction, I look forward to lurking and learning and I'm hoping that I can even contribute something worthwhile every now and then.

Regards,

Jeff

If your going to be coming across I-90 let me know I'm in Beulah the first town in Wyoming on I-90. Quite and in the middle of the black Hills, also good snowmobiling when there is enough snow. My old man and I used to guide snowmobile trips in the hills back in the 80's to early 90's. I've been riding since I was eight. So if you want to grab a beer and see what there is to see let me know.

Welcome aboard.  I am in central WY and would love to meet up with you this summer.  Ditto on coming to the Jamboree at the end of June.  You will not want to miss it.

Thanks, folks!

I'd love to meet up with any of you fine people!  As for the Jamboree, it's primary conditional upon my work schedule.  I'm working at a resort that I've never worked at before so I'm not sure of anything, really.  I'll do my best to make it out!    I'm really looking forward to actually seeing real mountains!  Everywhere I've been so far has been on the East Coast or Minnesota, 2100ft ASL are the highest "mountains" I've seen.

I'll figure out my schedule for travelling in the next few days and post it here.  Thanks again for such a warm welcome!

Welcome! Glad to meet you.

If you get a chance, stop in and see MamaLiberty too! I'm in Newcastle, on the 85 Hwy - if you come up that way. Hope to see you at the Jam in any case. PM if you can visit. :) ML

If the mountains affect you the way they did me then you will literally feel your heart change pace.? They are incredible.? The Tetons are truly awesome.

And, welcome to the Free State Wyoming forum......

I'm going to be in the Jackson Hole area, living inside the park.  I won't have a vehicle and, I'm very saddened by this, but since my residence is in the national park I can't even bring any firearms with me.  Moving out to the Wild West and being unarmed, unthinkable!  I'm going to purchase a new vehicle out there and I might find a secure location to store at least my P229 and a FAL, hopefully a .45-70 too.  Anyway, if anyone lives near that area that would like to get a beer or go for a hike, I'll be out there mid-May!

Howdy Jeff, I spent two years living in Jackson hole. My family operated a campground 2 miles from the South gate of Yellowstone. I think you will enjoy the area. Lots of young people work in the area ,supporting the tourism industry. If you get some time off try to take a day and hike up the Grand Teton mountain. You can get about half way without tech. gear and it is really worth the walk ! Be careful with the altitude though, it might take some time to get used to the thin air.  Miles
