Cameron,
Sounds great! Welcome to the forum. We need people like you. How soon can you move? (ha, ha).
Seriously, if you're ever up in Crook County please let us know. We have a good number of people who would love to meet you.

Cameron, welcome to this place. What semi-socialist country did you come here from? Is that country's being semi-socialist close to being sort of pregnant? What sort of bangsticks are you practicing with? I could get the MBR being a bolt gun, maybe an Enfield?? but don't know what an EDC carry piece might be.

New Zealand
The MBR is an FAL
The EDC is either a Colt Government or Commander
I just introduced the long guns here http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswforum//index.php?topic=4950.0

Welcome Cameron.
New Zealand is an interesting case. There were some articles a few years ago in Liberty Magazine about how it had taken some significant steps away from socialism and toward freedom. I guess not enough, eh?
It wasn't until I heard Rush Limbaugh define Liberal and Conservative that I realized I was neither and ultimately discovered Libertarians...
The words "liberal" and "conservative" have become essentially meaningless in this country, at least as applied to politicians. I wouldn't necessarily trust Rush Limbaugh's take on them.

As FSW's "other foreigner" I'd like to say 'Welcome Aboard!' Perhaps we'll get to meet at the next Jam?

Welcome aboard Cameron!
Just had some relatives come back from a one year stay in New Zealand. As they just returned a few days ago, I have not had a chance to talk to them much. They are avowed socialists, so it will be interesting to see what they have to say about NZ.
To give you an idea what I'm 'dealing' with: When I asked my nephew what socialist meant he said, "Socialism, social". That's it, guess he thinks it's about being friendly to everybody ??? Yikes!

Rush can be an interesting listen, but Paul is right, IMHO, in that liberal and conservative have various meanings in various social circles. One observation I would make is that the definitions of 'labels' like liberal, conservative and libertarian are in a constant state of flux. So, it really takes getting to know folks to understand their underlying principals.
But then, that's a good thing? :D

Howdy Cameron, welcome here ! Miles

Cameron, please tell me that you did NOT bring any more sheep here and that your Co business does NOT involve sheep. B
-
Cameron, don't worry about biathlon. He's just a recovering sheepaholic. :D
-
I haven't been here more than a couple of days and the conversation has turned to sheep addiction...
great
-
Now, now... don't worry. Biathlon doesn't run that by very often... We all have our little quirks...

I have only "met" one other new zealander that I know of.(on line) He asked with a very open mind to know what is the american gun rights debate all about. I have so much respect for the ability to look at that subject objectively. I hope my answer was as unbiased. Probably not.
Anyway, I already had a good impression and here you are to reinforce it.
Welcome.

Welcome here Cameron, I was just funnin with ya. Honestly New Z and Australia raise enough sheep to supply the entire planet with wool. No need to rais 'em here.
-
Cameron, great to see you here!
Friends, Cameron and his wife are quality people,
whom Colorado no longer deserves. I hope you'll get
to meet them soon at a shooting event, gun show, etc.

Boston,
Thanks for the warm welcome, and kind words.
I am sorry I missed the opportunity to pop up to WY and train with you...
However, you will be pleased to know I spent a recent weekend working out my FAL from 400-700 yards.
I good friend and I recently added IOR's 1.1-4 BDC optics to the carbines and have had really good results, the BDC works great with both the .223 62gr FMJ and .308 150gr FMJ, and enabled consistent hits.
Here is a squad member taping the target on the 500 yard line. Our shooting position was in the pine trees in the middle of the picture...

Here is a picture of my FAL...

In case you were wondering it is leaning against the tree in the middle.
Thanks,
Cameron

Nice camo job on the rifle, Cameron.
Having woken up at the AnZac liason office in Seoul a couple times after parties they hosted, I can say I'm glad to have a Kiwi in the ranks here.
