Hello all,
I'm in sunny (well, rainy today) Jacksonville, FL. I've been pondering relocating to Wyoming for a couple of months, and am starting to more seriously consider it lately. It's taken some doing to get the ladyfriend on board with the idea (she wants to go to Seattle). Anyway, I'm probably 8-9 months away from being in a position to act, so in the meantime I thought I'd start trying to narrow down an area, and ponder employment.
I work in the I.T. field (I presently do software support and QA testing), and also have hardware and networking experience. I've also worked on the side for several years as a martial arts instructor, and have experience with asset protection/loss prevention, and armed security.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and solicit input from you all on which areas of the state that I would be best served to look into further.
I'm planning to head out that way and "scout it out" in a few months. Possibly in March or April.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome!! Read as much as you can on the forum to get to know some of us better. If you come to the NE corner of Wyoming, you'll be able to meet several of us and we'll show you around. :)

FLA...OK place to visit, a great place to leave ;)
Anywho, if you have no particular travel timeframe in mind...I would personally recommend going around the time of the "Annual Party formerly known as JAM" ;D (APFKAJ) in mid to late June.
Last year, I burned full two weeks of vacation (one on each side of the APFKAJ) with the wife and kids and it's probably the best way to meet, greet and get to know others. And an awesome way to get WYO under the skin, but alas outside of the Forum, the only cure is to accelerate the geographic relocation....

Manumit is right, but be warned, you spend two or three days talking/fellowshipping
with the folks at the APFKAJ and you'll be hooked. You will develop a Wyoming itch
that screams to be scratched. So, welcome to the forum, and come on to the APFKAJ.

Howdy Starbuck, I always advise a trip to find out if Wyoming is the place for those thinking about relocating. Have you ever been out this way ?

Yes, but it's been a while. I was in Cheyenne briefly back in 1991, and I passed through again back in 1997.
Thanks for the warm welcome! :)
