I just joined and currently reside in the liberal stronghold of Akron Ohio. I recently finished Molon Labe and I'm excited by all the 'seed' ideas it has given me. Seeing a forum like this, filled with so many like-minded people, gives me real hope. I truly want to live and raise my son in such a free environment. My wife is resistant to the whole idea, especially moving away from her mother. I'll have to keep working on that as I fully intend to make it a reality. Thanks to all of you for giving me a light at the end of the tunnel.

Well hello Mr. Newbie!
Welcome to the forum and congrats for making yourself known.
Isn't it comforting to know that there's a whole group of people out there that share your dreams of a better world?
Take a long look thru our various subject areas. There's lots of info here.

Welcome to the group
I'm from a small town by Mansfield myself and currently residing in Baghdad at the moment, but will be making the move in about a year from now.

Welcome! Please encourage your wife to read the forum and to write to the ladies here. That is, of course, in addition to visiting with us!
And remember that it is quite possible her mother would be happier here too!

Welcome aboard Mr. Beta! Tire City, eh? Been to your fair city on business a time or two and enjoyed the countryside around the area. Statist, well most larger cities are anymore. At least you all have CC with preemption now as well as a growing OC movement.
Yes, it is refreshing to learn that others share many of the same ideas and passions regarding freedom. You'll find quite a variety of approaches here, with civil discussions. Likewise it's good to see more young folks interested in pursuing a free state, both of mind and of place. ;)
WRT your wife, may I suggest you take your time, do some research and get out to WY for a visit. She'll likely come around to the idea. That's the approach I've taken and my significant other is now very open to the idea.

Welcome to FSW Beta. Let Mrs. Beta know that Wyoming was the FIRST state to give women the right to vote and even threatened not to join the union if we couldn't bring the women in with us. No state income taxes, the fishing is epic this year, the hunting is world class, the skiing is world class, lots of room. I could go on and on but you'll just have to show up.

Howdy Mr Beta, glad you found us.

My wife is resistant to the whole idea, especially moving away from her mother.
I'm in a similar boat. I've said repeatedly that Nana is welcome to come along, but Mom don't think she will. My wife sure doesn't want to, but the more info I give the more she sees the benefit.

I' definitely going to have to take it slow with her. I think if I can get her out there next summer, maybe she'll come to see what all of you already have. I'm coming for a trip either way. I've got to see it and meet some of the people. Thank you all for the support. I'm shooting for within three years. Can't wait!

For older folks, esp. those on a fixed income, perhaps the low property taxes and lack of sales tax on groceries would be nice things to add in the "pros" column.

From Youngstown area originally.
First 18 years anyways.
Glad to have you around!

You could always throw in a "close to home" option so terrible that Wyoming would seem the
only choice. Maybe throw out the idea of sheep farming near Erlanger, Ky or mention getting
a job helping "at risk" gang banger youth in Flint or Detroit. ;D
