Title: Is there room for VERY like-minded Canadians?
Post by: armedpilgrim on October 21, 2008, 12:50:31 AM
I have searched the forum for this answer, but have not found it.  There are a few Canadian individuals and families we know who are sick of the tyranical overbearing of our government as well, and are very likeminded Libertarians.  My wife and I were introduced to Molon Labe, and we want in!  This is what we have dreamed of for years, and had wanted to see something similar start in Alberta, but the Liberal population there is too strong, and, I'm sad to say, Canadians tend to be so apathetic, nothing ever gets done.

What I am wondering, is, how can a group of Canadians come and be a part of the Free State?  We are willing to give everything up that we have here, if FSW is really what we hope it is.

Welcome indeed!!!

I don't know what the immigration hoops would be, or the legal difficulties, but if you can GET HERE, there is no reason in the world why you would not become valued members, neighbors and friends. I can't imagine any FSW folks having any reservations or problems with neighbors from Canada, any more than from anywhere else.

If leaving everything you have is what is necessary, then God bless you... but I hope that won't be necessary for everything. (hint: you can BUY more guns here. <G>)

I'd suggest you go to the US embassy (or call/email/whatever) nearest you and simply ask what it would take to become legal immigrants. Also ask what it would take to become legal visitors. You might want to come look us over before you light the match to your bridges. :)

Let us know what we can do to help. Ask questions! Read as much of the forum as you can. Everything here should apply to you as much as anyone else.

Howdy armedpilgrim, come on down whenever you are able. We already have a couple of folks on the forum from up north , maybe they will chime in here.

Thank you for the warm welcome!  We will begin doing our research, and start working on a plan to come down and visit.  We have very often mused on the possibillity of moving south of the border, but until recently, had never been aware of such an organized libertarian "movement", for lack of a better term.  We are very excited at the possibillities.

We are a Christian family of eight, (4 girls, 2 boys aged 8 months to eight years, and we are both 32 years old), my wife homeschools, and I am a certified journeyman carpenter.  Until this year, I have operated a small woodworking/ cabinetry & furniture business out of my home, but due to tax, financial and time pressures, have recently shut down the family business and am working as a maintenance carpenter for a maximum security prison nearby.  We live in Chilliwack, BC; I am an avid hunter and rifleman with aspirations of one day being more astute at gunsmithing, as well as becoming a skillfull 1000+ yd marksman, and though we both were born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, love the rural life--definitely not "big city folk".

Our main interests include: Theology, History, hunting and shooting sports, (which of course includes handloading), homeschooling (including teaching my children to love God and all men, how to be self-sufficiant, hard working, productive and noble citizens willing to sacrifice all for a better future for their progeny), woodworking, wine making (and maybe one day fine lagers), pipe smoking and bonfires under a clear starry sky in God's country with fellow liberty-minded friends.  I don't know if my woodworking skills would be of any use in Wyoming, but I am hard working and a quick learner, and open to any industrious profession I can comfortably support my family with and have time for the crucial training years for my children.

Thank you again for the warm welcome.  I am looking forward to more discussions, and we are excited to continue to learn more.

armedpilgrim,
(aka Joe and Carolyn Ditto)

Marvelous! You do sound like our kind of folks. :) And you won't have any problem finding work here, by any means. Hope to see you soon.

Howdy armedpilgrim!  I hope there's room for Canadians, otherwise I'll have to move to MT instead!  I have an advantage, though; I was born with dual citizenship (Canada/USA) so I don't have to put up with the usual immigration crap.  If you have a trade I would imagine that you'd have little trouble finding work anywhere!

I'm getting closer to making the move south myself; hopefully even by 2009.  Let me know if there's anything that I can do to help.

You're very welcome here, armedpilgrim.
You all would certainly fit in Wyoming, and with us.
Getting a US visa seems the greatest hurdle . . .

Come visit sometime, preferably at one of our events.

Hey armedpilgrim, your not alone.  ;D

Another Albertan here tuning in. I too have the urge to get to WY. Just like my buddy Herk, I've got dual citizenship. Hopefully next summer I'll be able to leave Canukistan permanently.

Governments have us as prisoners. I used to go to Canada yrs. ago, now I have to have a *&^%$ passport like if I am a child and have to ask permission to go across an invisible line. I am a citizen of the world as Thomas Paine said. You are too. To bad we have to jump thru hoops to be with like minded folks, but I believe you'll do what you must do to accomplish that goal...........WELCOME.

Don't much care where you're from or where you are now, it's where the 'head' is that is important!

Heck, if the FSW is willing to accept like minded Californians, then Canadians will be a a shoe in.

Welcome to the Forum.

Boston, getting a permanent resident card for Canada was tougher than anyone I've known getting into the USA.  Canadian government is VERY VERY socialistic beyond your wildest dreams, so much so that they try to prevent trades from coming or going as they feel fit.  Very ugly.  I once (long ago) tried moving up there.

I may not like religion, but there truly is a God or something to that effect.  Every effort I made fell through.  No criminal record, no problems, good employment, etc.  Somehow, even my heart wasn't into the move.

Having been to Alberta, I can say one thing.  All the pics of Wyoming look REMARKABLY similar to Alberta... well, actually there might be more trees and more landscape in Wyoming.  I did enjoy the chinook winds in Alberta though.  That's a nifty weather effect.  As for "compliance", the time isn't far off where papers please will result in "dissapearances" and I don't mean those of free men, but those of scum sucking maggots called bureaucrats.  I wager it will start in America, since enough people here retain that hard core freewill and will likely act upon it once they see enough loved ones and friends being rubbed nose first into the gravel by some enthusiastic state employee... aka "signiore Scum Sucking Maggotti."

And welcome.
