I've read through the stickies, so here we go-
About me:
1. Divorced once(last year), in my mid-thirties. However, Should the good Lord allow it, I'd like to find a sweetheart and raise a family on a basically self sufficient farm.
2. I'm looking to live in an area where a man(or womans ;D) word means just as much as a legal signature on paper. Somewhere where I can have "folks" for neighbors instead of people. This is the type of area I remember from summers on grandpas farm, and I want those days back. I bought a house in town, and proceeded to chase the supposed American dream. Wrong dream. Money is not the almighty goal in life, nor is a fancy car or a big house, as I'd been led to believe.
3. I've studied and read everything I know how to find on Wyoming, hoping I can "make the jump" debt free and bring some useful skills with me. Know this- When I head there, this time it's for keeps, an I'm not scared of work that's either hard or work that some would call demeaning(I've been literally over my head in pig poop on the farm before, and if I have to clean stalls again, fine by me.)
I've lived there before for a few years as a child when dad worked the mines near Green River, and I have a sibling that spent a couple years in Evanston who will be coming back home to Wyoming as well with his wife and children.
As far as the Second Amendment goes, I'm on board with you. Currently in my state of residence I am a range officer for 2 local ranges, put 40-50 kids per month through hunter education, and am certified as a rifle, pistol, and shotgun instructor through the NRA, as well as having a a life membership in the NRA, GOA, and CCRKBA organizations.
I've spent a lot of time wondering where I can raise my family with traditional values, self reliance, and a love of freedom. Looks like I've found the place!!

Welcome! You sound like our kind of people. PM if you'd like to know more about the NE corner of Wyoming... the banana belt! LOL We have a wonderful town with real neighbors - both FSW and everyone else.
I am also an NRA certified instructor. Let's talk! :)

My real dream? Run a self sufficient family farm of a couple hundred acres. Simple? Yes. Easy? Uh, not so much, eh? :o

Ah. Saw that one, but given my time line it's a no-go. I've got two years before I can come up there debt free.(That's two years to plan and research the how and what I'm going to do, we all know the "why" already :)) I won't move until I'm free of financial bondage. That way if I have to rent a cheap apartment and flip burgers for a start, I can do it.
Right now that'll take 2 years or my current income to achieve. When I join you guys, I want to be an asset of some sort and bring no liabilities with me. But I do plan on a vacation day or two to come up to one of your events shake hands and say howdy both years until I get there permanently.

Also, I would PM you MamaLiberty, but I'm still too much of a newbie looks like. Also question- I can't edit my own posts for spelling errors?

Some of us can too spell, Jubal!! LOL
Be there soon, you can send a PM easily. Look at the left hand side of the page on one of my posts, and find the little lineup of icons at the bottom of the frame (under the avatar). Hover your pointer over them and you'll see a little description of each appear. One will send an email (that's fine too) and one will let you send a personal message. You will also find an icon for my website.
You should be able to edit your posts after you pass the "lurker" point, but I'm not sure. Some functions of the board are reserved for those who have become FSW pledged members... just can't remember which is which right now. If Paul or Jared see this thread, they'll let us know.
-
I see them now. This board works a bit different in that regard than what I'm used to. I ass/u/me "lurker" is related to post count? As far as being a pledged member, how does one do that? If it involves a donation to help run the board, just tell me how much and where, eh? ;)
-
Howdy Be there soon,
I spent some time in Green River in the 70's, family worked at several of the mines there.
Yes your lurker will go away as you post more and if you look through the home page you should be able to find a thread where you can post your pledge to join FSW. No longer a fee but from time to time you may find opportunities to help others or the group, as you see fit.
And in the uper right corner of any post you make you should have a button that says modify? No spell check but you have a chance to go back and correct your post there.
-
Got it. Looks like it showed up when I changed from lurker to Wyoming Bound. No spell check? Au contraire. Firefox works well if I just pay attention to the little red underline.... ;)

When I join you guys, I want to be an asset of some sort and bring no liabilities with me.
That is a breath of fresh air--after our previous experience with some psuedo FSW'ers this is greatly welcomed. May your journey be clean and swift. And welcome to the ever enlarging extended family of freedom loving souls. ::)

I'm sorry I'm probably ignorant and haven't read all the other posts yet. What events are sponsered, how many, and when? Thanks for the info.
I'm also curious about different companies that make suppressors in Wyoming due to some of the latest state legislation.
Thanks for the info.
