This has been talked about a lot on the bees forums on FB.
most of the beekeepers there said that if you harvest the honey to soon, that it will make you sick.
the bees need to cap it and the honey needs time to cure.
So how will you know if the honey is ready, if you do not open the hive and check?
plus in the vids they are showing honey coming out of the hive, yet there are not bees around.
when was the last time you saw a hive with not bees around it? a dead hive maybe, winter? ether way, it is not the right time to harvest honey.

I've never kept bees and don't know much about it. This just sounded interesting. :)

I have been thinking about starting bee keeping, so I was studying it before my accident.
Now I have lots of time to study. joined a beekeeping group here and got me a mentor.
There is more to keeping bees than just setting up a hive.
the biggest one for most people is getting use to the sounds of a bee as they fly by and near you.
I may not set mine up this year, but when I do I will be ready.

I've never been bothered by insects, except ants. Can't stand ants. :) Used to have a whole colony of bumblebees nesting in the cross post of my clothesline for a long time. Bees and bumblebees have always landed on me without harm, and I love to watch them in the flowers. The sound of bees in the garden and orchard were always a pleasure, so I don't think it would be a problem for me because I do not fear them. The only bee that ever stung me was one I sat on... and I could hardly blame it. :)

Sounds like a scam.
The standard hive bodies are one of those rare (American!) inventions that happened ages ago and have not been improved. Even plastic hive foundations don't work very well. The bees know something is wrong with them.
The hardest thing about bee keeping, is keeping them alive. Too damn many pests and other problems these days.
