I am soon to be getting on the trail west. While at the 07 Jam I was offered a job in Casper. They gave me ten weeks, to report for duty. Casper is only 1.5 hrs from the property that I bought, but it will have to do for now. I have begun the task of packing. My plan is to leave here ( VA), tuesday after Labor Day, and drive out. Possibly arriving that Friday. I am not unloading anything for a while. I am going to be staying in a borrowed trailer in Casper, til I get my house built. I will be looking for help getting adjusted when I get there. So all you guys/gals in or near Casper, help a fella out. See ya soon.
-
FANTASTIC!
Glad to hear the good news. One more for Wyoming!

Absitively Posolutely wonderful. We are about 30 east of Casper and will help with what we can. I don't envy the packing in any way, shape or form. When you're ready let me know and I'll PM our contact information.
See Ya In Wyoming!!

I'm up hard against the MT line, same highway but a ways away. Let me know if I can help out. Make sure you put in a landline alongside the powerline when you start building up yer place if yer not 100% sure about cell phone service, doing that will save you some bucks and uncertainty.
-
We would love to lend a hand in any way possible.? Keep us posted ;D

Only 10 days left before the journey of a lifetime. I am very excited and can't wait to finally set up shop in Wyoming
-
Good! You can be my 'agent' there. I intend to order pallets of prairie dogs and have them drop shipped to my 'favorite people'. ;D
Be sure ya send me your new phone #.

Yeah, what was that, YOU would PAY US to come and eradicate prairie poodles? >:D ;D ::)
See ya next year, after I go to my FREE walk-to spot in Montana. ;)
Seriously, best of fortune with your new job and getting started on housing plans. ~W~

Lunghd, the number will not change my cell is still working. Thanks Bobcat, But the idea was to charge admission for all the prairie dog shootin' you wanted, then we have prairie dog cook off (you know like prairie dogs on a stick)LOL
-
;D If you say so, guess I won't bring my prairie poodle eliminator stick when we visit. ::)
As for prairie poodle 'kabobs', you might be able to sell'em to tourists as unique Wyoming cuisine? If anybody can, you can. :D
Glad we got to meet at the Jam. Maybe we'll get a chance to meet at a shoot or something? Never know...
-
Your welcome anytime bobcat, and bring that poodle shooter. there are plenty to go around. No charge.
-
;D
-
Best wishes!!! Sounds like we have quite a few FSWers in Casper...

Grilled, sliced, canned or pickled? Or all of the above?
You know what they say: "There's no better way to say 'bubonic plague' than with the gift of a delicious prairie dog platter."
I'm pretty sure that's what they say!
The annual roadkill picnic/cookoff in West Virginia is coming up soon (September 29th)
Citizens of the state have been picking up, and cooking, roadkill long before they named a festival in honor of the practice. But several years ago, the state of West Virginia finally legalized this popular local practice, and the Roadkill Cookoff in Marlinton was born. Dishes with names like Thumper Meets Bumper, Asleep at the Wheel Squeal, One Ton Wonton, Rigormortis Bear Stew, Tire Tread Tortillas and Deer on a Stick are judged for their taste - or lack of it.
Perhaps you could beat out that sad Thumper embarrassment with a majestic, well-roasted Dog on a Log or Black Death Brisket recipe. Mmm.

Pickled Prairie Dogs... (visualize them inside a glass jar, jaws puffed out from holding their breath and their little paws beating against the glass as the pressure cooker lid goes on).
Ya know. That's sick.
Tasty, but sick. ;D
-
ROFLMAO ;D
-
Yeah but how do you ensure a self-producing, sustainable supply to build up the franchise shipping deep-fried, beer battered P'Dogs-On-A-Stick around the country?? ???
Just remove all natural predators, dig a hole, add two prairie dogs, turn the lights down and POOOFF...more targets, er, P'dogs, I mean!!

Hope the relo goes well!!!!
-
Manumit, the irony is that is how you get more politicians too... set a career liar... ahem... lawyer, and an intern in an oval office, and turn down the lights... oh wait, no, that's how you get the ratings back up on the mainstream cable news.

Hmmmm. "...Remove all natural predators..."
Hey Colonial Shooter! Time to unveil the "BBQ'd Badger Franchise" ;D

C.S. - I just thought - your cell # may function in WY but once you xfer your billing etc the carrier may change your # & 'home area' to comply with your 'home area'. (And no, a trained prairie dog sitting on your shoulder with a tiny satellite dish strapped to it's head does NOT qualify for free nationwide service.)
I need to give you a call about something - send me a PM on when it's a good time or give me a ring Wed. night after 7:30pm if you have time.
-
Alright, this may be my last post til I am actually a Wyoming resident. ;D 30 hours and counting before I am on the road. Can't wait to breath the clean air again, and see some real snow for the first time in about ten years.
-
I hate to break it to you... but there probably won't be any snow for a little while yet. LOL
Congratulations and you be sure to come see MamaLiberty!! :)

Have a safe journey! Wave at every cone you see. ;D Use both hands to wave if there's actually a road crew within 100 miles of them. ;D ;D
-
Be careful ! Miles

Have a good trip. Heh, one less sane person in Virginia. (I just felt a disturbance in the force as the socialists gathered strength out here.)
-
I'm officially here. As of 8:30A MT I arrived in Casper.
-
... and a tremor went through the psyche of prairie dawgs state wide ... ;D
I take it from the quick pace that Nebraska (land of 10,000,000,001 road cones) wasn't clogged up with work zones this go 'round. (Either that or ya took I-70 out to Denver then up.) Congrats either way!

Hmmmm... which one caused the small quake felt in Newcastle this morning? Not sure there are any prairie dogs around here. :o
Welcome! It's grand to have you with us at last. :)
-
Give us a holler...........we'd love to have you over for a gamey meal of antelope.

Mama... that was the "UNited Prairiedog Coalition On The Effects of Small Arms Trade In All Its Aspects"... I think the entire hordes thundered their way there to hear Hillary give a speech... and get breeding tips from Bill.
-
thanks everyone, great to finally be where I have wanted to be for a long time.
No lunghd, kansas didn't win the cone award, actually it was Wyoming, Kansas second and WV third.
On the prairie dogs, I'm letting them grow for the winter and come spring.... look out dawgs.
-
Hey Colonial Shooter,
It was great to hang out with you at the jam. I'm the one with the white truck and the beer ...and we went for a swim. Congratualations! I hope to see you at the next jam or late this spring when I get to Casper. ..
