Post by: MichaelNotMike on May 16, 2010, 06:04:17 PM
Yellowstone vacation blog post one of three (more coming in next few days), more pix here:

How cool is it to be able to drive a few hours and take a vacation that people fly around the world to take?

Gun was in my pocket. I didn't feel like being the center of attention with so many Japaneese and British tourists there. The idea of a citizen with a gun would have drawn attention away from Old Faithful!

Also, ironically, Cody Buffalo Bill museum (which is the largest collection of guns in America) is a gun-free zone according to their pamphlet. I kept mine in my pocket, unlike the museum guard I talked to, who was bummed out that he wasn't allowed to have his gun on him.

The Cody gun museum is interesting. TOTALLY apolitical.
Not one reference to the 2A.
Not one reference to crime.
Not one reference to gun laws.
No mention of anything of the sort.
Frankly, I found it a bit strange not to mention the 1,000 lb elephant in the room.

Kinda like visiting a museum of atomic weapons and never having it mentioned that they were used Japan.

Not totally true. Did you watch the short movie in the Coors theater? Debunks the "shoot 'em up" "wild west" myths.

30 minutes for me. Although there have been buffalo trotting down the highway in front of the house, big horn sheep in my back yard, and a couple years back a grizzly on the deck checking out the grill. How's that for one-upmanship for ya?  8)

The museum directors are a bunch of Zumbos if you ask me. I raised hell about the "no guns" rule in the local paper but it did not change anything. Somehow I don't find "no guns" to be totally apolitical. To me it is very political. Not mentioning customer guns at all, that would be apolitical.  :(

Nice!

So, what's the deal with that Wild Bill reenactor guy who hangs out in downtown ? Seems like there must be a story with him. He was about to ask us if we wanted to pay to have a photo taken with him and I gave him a "look" and he went to the next table. I was gonna ask him if his gun was real, he probably sensed it. lol....
