Gary North had some interesting things to say in two articles he wrote titled "BUY SILVER OR GOLD?". Some of the points mentioned here are included, but there are many more details for those who are interested in the question posed by the title.

I searched for links to his articles (which I received from him as an email) but couldn't find any, so I posted them on my web site at the following link.

Enjoy.

Just to clarify/reiterate/etc. on the coin order status:

Proofs are sold out.
Tubes are sold out.
No more quantity orders.
Singleton orders only -- $20 cash postpaid.
Less than 100 coins left.
Order ASAP, as the remaining coins are going fast.
Please follow instructions, or your order will be returned.

I hate to be a "hard ass" about it, but here has been our recent experience:

One order for a tube (postmarked in time) was $120 short.
His $200 cash was returned.

Another order for a tube (fully paid) was past the 2/24 deadline.
His $320 cash was returned.

So, $20 cash means $20 cash, not a $20 check or M.O.
(I just have a "thing" against taking promissory notes for precious metals!)

Silver will likely closely at year's end between $12-$15.
Spot price is now $9.98.
These rare coins are a bargain at $20 postpaid, as the design/minting cost alone was $4/coin.

I will retain 20 coins for personal sale at the Jam, but mail-order stock will
likely be sold out by then (26 May).? If you don't have one of these beautiful
coins, this is your last chance.

6 April 2006 price update.

Since silver is rapidly climbing and just closed over $12,
we now accept orders only based on the postmarked
date of spot price (+ $13:  $10 premium and $3 S&H).

The below image is from:
http://kitconet.com/images/sp_en_6.gif

Take spot price, round up/down to the nearest dollar,
add $13, and send that amount in cash.  (Print out the
spot quote and include with order, please.)

Good to hear, Dave.  Thanks for your order.

These coins will be, at some future point, like women's hats or battle rifles.
Does the following general exchange sound familiar?

Q:  "Where'd you get that FSW silver coin?"

A:  "Oh, we've always had our coins!"

Subject: The "Wyoming" silver coin as money

The FREE STATE WYOMING 1 OUNCE SILVER COIN discount offer in message #7 for purchase at my Artemis Zuna Trading Post: http://www.cafepress.com/ArtemisZuna has ended--due primarily to the current volatile nature of the silver/FRN ratio.

I would like to thank all those who participated.

Anyone who would like to redeem a ONE OUNCE SILVER COIN of ANY kind for merchandise discount may email me directly at DennisLeeWilson (at) Yahoo.com and we can negotiate based on the price of silver at that time.

Coming soon: Merchandise in exchange for electronic gold, silver or platinum: keep watching my site.

As of today, the FSW coins are now sold out.
No more website orders will be fulfilled.

Thanks to all who bought in early, and heavily!

Only 1,100 were ever minted (1,000 business strikes
and 100 proofs).

If we receive sufficient interest we may contemplate
another 1,000 coin mint run, in 2007.  While the reverse
(of the buffalo) would be identical, the obverse would
feature a high-relief image of Wyoming. Those who wish
to contribute some of their own silver in a partnership
deal, let me know!

Botson,
I used one of these coins for the first time a couple months ago to buy the Free State Activsim DVD from Kat Dillon.  :D

I am not going to watch it again, and I thought you may have an intrest in seeing it, so I sent it to you yesterday c/o Javelin press.

Dear Money,

I wish I could edit my posts  :'(

Well, everyone's experience is different.  For me, when I come across one of my posts, there is a button near the top right of the post "modify" which lets me edit my posts.

I am not, however, aware of all the details on the forum software, so different members may have different settings.  Just my two bits worth.

Regards,

Jim

Dear Friends,

There ya go!  And joining is cheap and plentiful.  Last I looked at it, the statement of intent was not terribly onerous.  I think joining up costs $25.  Those who fully support this project have contributed many tens of thousands of hours and many, many hundreds of dollars, I believe.

So, c'mon!  Don't stand there on the sidelines.  Freedom needs your voice, your time, your energy,  your trips to the gun range.  You cannot be free if you don't act.

Yes, do nothing and you might live, for a time.  Join us and you might be killed for being a "patriot."  The USAPATRIOT Act is called by many "the Patriot act" but it is not patriotic, and it is simply an acronym.  "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism" I recently thought it might be parsed better as the U Sap at RIOT Act.  Where the Saps are found to be at Riot, they will get the RIOT act, for sure.  Well, needs work.

But dying alone, years from now, what would you give, then, to be a part of our effort, now?  What will you do without freedom?

Yes, you can be free.  Yes, you can shed the police state.  You can burn your REAL ID.  You can stand on your hind legs like a man or a woman, and do your part for freedom.  You can teach your children about freedom, decency, and the basic tools they need to learn anything.  You can be free, but you have to choose for yourself.

The door is here.  Yes, I fervently, honestly, truly believe that Free State Wyoming is one of the last, best, and brightest hopes for the future of freedom.  You can choose to walk through this door, and join us.

But the choice is yours.  Has to be.

I can only show the door to you.  You have to choose to walk through it.

Regards,

Jim
