I read that story too. More confirmation for Ferfal's contention that the place to be is a small town.

Like Newcastle???  ;D

Newcastle is actually a big city with probably three thousand people or more.  It even has its own oil refinery.  It is way bigger than a "town".

If I ever find a dead cat, I will put it in a black box and give it to a physicist friend.  Then when he opens the box, I will shout, "Hey! You killed my cat!"

For purposes of survival, Newcastle is about ideal. It may be a "big city", heh, but it doesn't have big city problems.

Spirko says the same thing. Specifically, just on the outskirts of a small town. One approach we
used along those lines was to find the city borders and make sure to be far enough outside so
that being incorporated into the city is unlikely to occur.
