EMP protection
« on: January 19, 2017, 12:29:48 PM »
Below is an article about a product introduced at the Shot Show. It claims to protect electronics from EMP events. Has anyone heard of it before? Is it BS and no better than the anti-static "EMP" bags I've seen or is it the real deal?

Not for me. I think it is a gimmick. EMP can be real, but like other radio waves, its strength diminishes rapidly with distance. If someone is concerned about a nuke going off overhead, I think there are many other worries to address.

But what the heck. Get a couple spare rolls of aluminum foil and use it to line handy containers, like an ice chest. Spray adhesive would help keep it in place.

If I ever find a dead cat, I will put it in a black box and give it to a physicist friend.  Then when he opens the box, I will shout, "Hey! You killed my cat!"
