Newbie Intro
« on: February 09, 2006, 03:55:24 PM »
Hi. My name is Sean, and I?m a freedomaholic.

I?ve never had in interest in New Hampshire, or anywhere but Wyoming or Montana.

I?m a recovering Iowa GOP member who currently writes ?Free Tibet!? on the junk mail the RNC sends me and mails it back to them. After all, I have sent multiple letters asking them to stop sending me requests for money. (My contributions go to VOM, GOA or JPFO, not the Tom Delay defense fund.) The last politician I would have ever come close to trusting turned 95 the other day (posthumously.) I will stay registered GOP, though, until I can make a difference in that way. The Iowa LP newsletter might as well be made of rolling papers, for as useful as it has been to me so far.

I?ve never had in interest in New Hampshire, or anywhere but Wyoming or Montana.

I joined the Yahoo board quite some time back, but never participated there, as that particular board format made me nuts. I have had my heart with you folks for quite a while now. I have given away several copies of Molon Labe, and have sold several more on Ebay.

I am 35 years old, currently a desk jockey who is awaiting a development that will morph into a portable career for our eventual move to the Casper area in a couple of years, where we just started making payments on 40 acres (almost) this last fall. My current job revolves around restricting the liberties of people who have proven themselves irresponsible in the past (drunk drivers)- unfortunately, government has taken a feasible system and bureaucratized it into virtual uselessness. My wife Korey, (who is more excited about our move than I am!) has 2 years of her education left, and once that is completed, we are outta here. I hope to bring some family and friends with me when the time arrives. She will be (the 1 allowable) Libertarian High School Art Teacher for the United States. I will not have anything to do with government brainstorms when we get there if I can help it.

We visited Glacier National Park in Montana about 2 years ago- we stayed 10 days, and both cried when we left.

We like granola, but neither of us hugs trees. No kids yet; 1 beagle (10), 1 black cat (14.)

We have been together since 1991, married since 1997 (?I think- I?m a guy, cut me some slack.)

We?re both fat, but both losing weight. I have no interest in ?getting into shape,? I just don?t want to look or feel like an office zombie/slug anymore.

She makes jewelry to sell; I make useless replica movie props (or used to, when I had free time.)

Soon I will be doing my own FAL build (undecided on all of the parts just yet,) and all I will say about that is that it will not require any new skill sets. I?ve been educating myself, too, while the wife has been in school. Korey wants me to build her an RRA CAR clone. I?m a .40 Glock, she?s a .357 Colt. All in good time.

I?m looking for cigar recommendations, preferably ones with Maduro wrappers, as I am new to actually spoiling myself in that category. About the best I have gone so far are Excalibur #3s (yum!) or 1990 Rocky Patels (unimpressed.) The alleged ?93? rated Sancho Panza I had the other day wasn?t even as good as my cheap Honey Backwoods smokes, so any assistance is appreciated. I?m looking forward to having some mad money to blow on some Liberty Camachos and some Drew White Rabbits. Need something to go with the Guinness.

Personal Preferences: Savage over Rush, Glenn Beck over Hannity, doing my own research over FoxNews, Lightsaber over Blaster, NuGalactica over TOS, Firefly over both, lasagne over pizza, and an H1 over an H2 or H3.

I?ve never owned a pickup but look forward to having a small one someday, when I can write it off.

Too much info? I hope not, seeing as how we will be closer neigbors, someday.

I can?t wait for the Jam in May. I put in for that week off this Tuesday.

I am very glad to be here.

BTP, we will be mailing our $ along with our SoI?s here in the next 48 hours.

Any questions?

Sean

What is your name!? (Oh wait, sorry, you already answered that one.)

What is your quest!? (Oh wait, sorry again. Obviously, freedom in Wyoming.)

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Can't help you out with the maduros. I never really developed a liking for them, though many (many) years ago, I'd smoke the occasional Te-Amo. When I do decide to splurge on a cigar (which is a regrettably infrequent occurence), I'll go for an Ashton, Avo-Uvezian, Montecristo (Dominican) or Cohiba (Dominican). I'm not familiar with those you mentioned, so it's hard for me to say whether my choices would suit you.

As a sometime web jockey, all that springs to my mind for H1,2, and 3 are the HTML tags for Headers at levels 1,2 and 3.

Hi folks~! newbie here...my name is Matt,36 years old, currently residing in S.E. michigan (bout 45 miles from the Nichols ranch, where the Oklahoma City events were supposedly planned)...ive only recently found out about the Free State Wyoming thing, and i am here to learn more about it, and hopefully engage in beneficial , and educational(for me)contact with the group...ive read enough to be familiar with the group's "mission statement" for lack of a better term (i.e. goals both short and longterm,on the political, economic, and social levels) and i have to say, i ifnd the entire idea refreshing! i have had, in my life, the pleasure of spending roughly 8 years of my life, living in S.W. Colorado, during which time, i came to be a neighbor of Boston's, during which time i learnt much, gained a great education, and had my "glass house" shattered many times, over and again...i arrive at this site after finally finding my copy of Goodbye April 15th, and deciding to look Boston up on the net(which i was introduced to upon my return to michigan from colorado in '97) knowing full well that he had to be here somewhere...and sure enough, i found not only him, but this new effort and train of thought....a new focus....i am very intrigued about everything that FSW is about....im not sure if i can head back west just yet or not, but i fully support the whole idea, and look forward to all and any diatribe with everyone here   *cheers to everyone*~!!

I understand about GOP registration. I am having a really tough time giving up the lifelong Republicanism. And I may not, but I do want to get the government off my back and out of my 'curtilage'.

Actually, there are strong arguments for staying (nominally) an R, or even a D. Especially if you would consider running for any office, or for example being the local precinct committeeperson which is also a good idea. There are an awful lot of people who vote party line out there; might as well take advantage of it. Just like there are actual socialists and fascists who wear the R label, there's no reason there can't be actual libertarians/freedom lovers. Some LP members dispute that, but I'm unconvinced with their arguments; I'm also a registered Republican, although one more interested in freedom than the party leadership is.

Agreed Paul.

While I must fight the temptation every week to mail back "I QUIT!" letters to the party folks asking for dough, it really is easier & wiser to just feed them to Elsie (my shredder.)

That way, I can accept an invite whenever convinient.

Is it possible to get a good shredder for under $100? I seem to break one about once a year. :(
I've held off getting a 'good' one because I want to just have a place where I can have a burn barrel and then I'll be set, so that's why I've got the 'Simmons scopes' of shredders (Molon Labe reference ;) )

I'm not sure about good, & affordable. The one I have rocks, it was a gift, and  is WAY under $100.
it is an aurora as611mx.
I have only been running it hard for about 2 months though, so I have yet to see if it is a Simmon (or even worse, a Tasco!)
 :P

I have filled 4 -30 gallon garbage bags with "product" from this thing so far, and have only had to undo 2 jams and oil it once.

If I ahd to buy another one tomorrow, I would get the same one, especially at the current price.

Now when you get done with all that shredding you need to start a worm compost bin. The Worms will turn all that stuff into beautiful "black gold". There are some of us crazy gardeners who will actually buy the compost from you. See the garden section under "Lay of the land".

Had you paid just a little more attention to New Hampsterland, you might have run across NH Senator
Robert C. Smith, who I've always thought was a pretty good egg. But your vision is likely better directed westward in any event.

If you're in a rural area of Wyoming, you may need to keep the kitty and beagle indoors for the rest of their days lest they make a new playmate of a rattlesnake. As kids come along, they can be taught better, but critters used to playing with stray things have developed bad habits that aren't easily broken. Of course, if y'all head for one of the larger cities, no worries.

Creativity of most any sort is a VERY useful thing to bring to Wyoming. No worries.

If you need FAL build assistance or a gauge/tool loan, that can likely be arranged. Neither is most anything reasonable that can be done within the AR15 family. As for handguns, your ammo supply is not an *all eggs in one basket* arrangement, which is a good thing.

I can't advise you in the slightest on this one. But if questioned by anyone else on the subject, I'll happily point them your way as the resident RKI [Reasonably Knowledgeable Individual] on the subject.

Concur, though I'd have suggested WND over FoxNews and nuking them all from orbit over Lightsaber or Blaster, SG1 over Firefly, and H5N1 HPAI over H1/H2/H3
