to everyone here I give you the utmost respect and praise for what is happening with this movement. My name is Kirbey, I am a Patriot, a Navy Vet, a commercial diver, an electrician, a bartender, a laborer, a student, and a father. I currently reside in the People's Republic of Illinois, but am moving to Ga to be closer to my son. Over the last few weeks I have read Boston's Gun Bible cover to cover, and am still learning from him. I am armed w/ an AR-15, 1911, glock 20, and soon an FAL. I am glad to see so many like minded individuals as myself, an am very excited with all that is going on. The issue that I have is "Where to be?" Georgia as you know is more or less a pro-bill of rights state, and my son is there, he's 5 1/2 and starting school this fall. But with everything going on in this country, it is hard to find like minded people to "watch my back" as it were.  I guess I am at a loss here, I want to be there in Wyoming, but my son is in GA. Can anyone offer any suggestions, its a bit lonley out here.

Well, a man has to be a father to his son, no matter what. That's my opinion.

You didn't specify why he is stuck in Georgia. We can't help you out without knowing. On the other hand, it's not our business!  :)  Some of these things a man just has to work out for himself, or with the help of close friends.

There are freedom movements going on in the South. See this board. Maybe you can fit in to one of those? At least until he's grown or the situation changes?

At any rate, welcome to our forum, and I hope you can figure things out.

Well, Paul you are right. A father should be with his son, but without knowing any other details, wouldn't it be possible to just move with your son to Wyoming? If not, Christian Exodus might suit your needs (don't know if you're a Christian or not). They are similar to other free state movements but are Christians trying to make SC a free state or colony.

On the topic of like-minded people, you might want to check out www.americanminuteman.net and http://www.modernminuteman.net/forums/index.php. They are both militia sites and one should suite your needs. The latter is really new so won't have as much stuff on it, but it is much more a conservative forum. American Minuteman is much older, so has many more members and topics as well as being slightly more "liberal" i.e. libertarian. So, check them out - one should work out for you. I would imagine FSWs would fit in better at AM being that most FSWs are genearlly BTP followers and he wrote Hologram of Liberty which shows our Constitution as being alliance with big government. And MM is of the belief the Constitution is LAW, PERIOD, and any bashing, talking about changing it, etc. are wrong. So... Another good board you might find like-minded people is TCF (The Claire Files) - www.tcftalk.com/clairefiles. It is large and has many different flavors of freedom loving individuals. You should fit in fine there if you love freedom.  :D

I don't know if you knew of the above sites but if not, hopefully they will help you find a place of like minded people other than here! And if you agree with the FSW movement but can't pledge to move, you can always fill out the Statement of Intent, leave it unsigned which signs you on as an associate. (Associate means you agree and support FSW but you can't pledge to move to WY in 7 yrs with voting eligibility.)

The most important thing you can do right now is be there for your son.? Set an awesome example of a patriotic father so your son will want to follow in 'your footsteps'.? Teach him right from wrong and teach him how to be a responsible citizen.? When the time comes perhaps he will choose to go to WY.? Until that day just be there for him as is dad.? Its no good if you are in WY and he's become a product of society in another state--he just might grow up to be everything you are against.

Visit WY when you can, come to next year's Jamboree, visit the forum to stay abreast of what is going on with the FSW community, get involved with RWVA, go to an Appleseed shoot, put up a thread asking if there are other FSW'ers in the area you are moving to, come to the costume party in December in Casper............................

Jump in an' get to know everyone...............and if the time comes where?

Howdy Kirbey,

Your son, as all children, needs the constancy and dependability that you can provide, wherever you are.  Always be true to your word with him.  Always be true to your self.  Be the very best and authentic you that you can be - that's the very best you can do for him.

Children are like sponges - they absorb the essence of everything going on around them.  Their BS meters are on full-time.  They may not always know intellectually what you're talking about, while at the same time they do intuit whether you're being genuine.  Talk less, say more.  Your son knows.

There are lots of good, patriotic Americans throughout this country, and many of them are in the Southeast.  Make the circumstances that you want in your life.  Make the circumstances that you want in your son's life.  Be the man, be the father, be the Citizen that you want your son to know.

Very well said, Brandy. I agree with this. Something FSW people understand that it never seemed like FSP people really got is that you can carve out your own little niche of freedom wherever you are - maybe all the laws are against you, but you can still be free in spirit and philosophy. At least that's how freedom-loving people out west are... Hence why we're not going to a tiny little state that borders Taxachusetts! There are many layers to freedom. Some of us are just lucky enough to be able to pack it up and head for WY right now, or soon - others have to wait a bit longer.

If there's any way you and your son can both make for WY, then do it! If not, maybe bring him along when you come out to visit for the Jamboree or other events. Instill in him a basic sense of right and wrong, good old fashioned manhood, and what liberty is all about. And as he gets older, make sure he gets to check out plenty of brochures for the University of Wyoming!  ;D

Wow, one day andthere are responses. I am deeply moved by the level of feeling in everyone's reply, to the point of tearing up. My son's mother has full custody of him and is residing in GA, due to her family living there. Hence the inability to pack him up and move. Boy I am really opening up here, She is trying to get a divorce from her current husband, because he is a physically and mentally abusive to her and my son. He drives trucks for Prime inc. now, and fortunately is gone most of the time. Believe me when I say I want to be there for my son. I am already planning on teaching him to shoot a .22 and in a few years pass one on to him. I have had my eyes opened by Boston, and would like to be considored a follower, even if it means just an associate?  2-3 weeks from today I will be reunited w/ my son and I will try to be the father that I lacked.  I appreciate the links to the other organizations, it will be a start, but hopefully in the near future, I would like to be by everyone's side, w/ my son w/ me, bill of rights in one hand and my FAL in the other. Thank you to everyone, I can't say it enough, thanks.

Kirbey, Howdy and welcome,  Thanks for opening up it helps. I do have a question for you if you care to open up a bit more. :)
If your sons mother gets her divorce, is there a possibility you two wil reunite? And if so maybe then you three, as a family, could slowly make your way to Wyoming?

It is unknown if my son's mother and I are going to get back together if she gets a divorce. What is the real kicker is my current girlfriend lives downtown Chicago, going to school for her masters in education, and has just been introduced to firearms, (she loves my 1911). She might move to GA when she graduates, but for her WY is out of the question, she just does not like the country, she's a city girl. I know deep down its not going to work between us, and All I care about is my son. If his mom and I do get back together, there is the possibility of the move. First things first, I have to get my FAL then get on down to GA, so its back to one day at a time. Thanks again to everyone here, for everything.

Well, sorry about your current situation and all the troubles. Hope they all get worked out. I know you said you already know that it won't work out with your current girlfriend and you, but if it did, or you met another city girl, there are fairly large cities (compared to the country) in Wyoming.  :o

Check out Casper, Cheyenne, Sheridan, Buffalo, Gillette, etc.

Some good news everyone, I have set a date to leave the communist state of Illinois. I will be GA bound on the 14th of July. I have already been talking to my son and he is beyond excited, ;D. His mom is excited also, she knows about my armory and she is very excited to learn how to shoot. Now the hard part cometh, trying to convince my girlfriend to move to a more firearm friendly state, like GA, if not convince the Ex- to move to WY.

On a side note, my ex watched a program on the history channel last night, I have it recorded so I haven't seen it yet, but it is a bit disturbing. Aparently Yellostone national park is a super volcano, that is starting to build up pressure again. Now I'm not saying that it is a factor on whether or not I come out there,( if it does blow, the enitre world is screwed), but it is something to think about.

almost forgot, my sister has decided to purchace my Glock 20 from me, and will be getting into reloading also, so my FAL purchace will be happening this weekend ;D. now to get to my grandparents in TN to get it zeroed.  Once again thanks to everyone here, you all have given me enough encouragement to get things rolling, and if anyone happens to pass thru GA, give me a shout and I'll buy the Waffle House after a few boxes of ammo at the range.

OH NO! THE YELLOWSTONE CAULDERA THING AGAIN !!! :o ::) SURE HOPE THE DAMNED PLACE DOESN"T BLOW WHILE I'M THERE NEXT MONTH! BOY, THAT SURE WOULD SCREW UP A PERFECTLY GOOD VISIT.

Yep it's true, it's gonna blow, in fact it's eminent. Yesseree, probably gonna blow within the next million years or so.?

Heck, I'm more afraid of Islamic Terrorists bombing my trailer park next week than I am the Yellowstone Caldera "blowing". ::)

Getting your science from the Discovery Channel or your history from the History Channel are never good ideas.  There will always be incredible errors, unbelievable fallacies, etc.  Anyway,...

I'm not sure I would call the Christian Exodus a freedom group.  But that's just me.  You do have the Mises Institute nearby in Auburn, Alabama, and they are absolutely awesome.  Check out their web site at http://www.mises.org and you can learn about some of the great things they're doing.  If you want to be involved in the freedom/libertarian movement, they are definitely some of the all-star players.  You and your son could go to the Mises University or something even -- a week-long gathering with courses, seminars, etc. on free-market economics.
