However, I really don't like the word Libertarian because of the old baggage it carries with it.
Now, where have I heard that before?

Just say you believe in freedom. Best way to put it I think.
Where we disagree is the urgency.
Sounds like you are half-way there.
This is a very feminine trait. Can't blame a wife for being feminine.

When the people took to the Oregon Trail in the 19th century, from looking at the journals it's clear it was always the men who wanted to go, and the women just put up with it (in those days anyway).
What you need is to establish a comfort zone for her in Wyoming. That means, getting some friends and feeling the same sorts of feelings she gets with family and friends where you are now. Fortunately this is very easy because the FSW crowd are great people and lots of fun to be around (and Wyoming folk generally are easy to get along with). So as others have said, get out here and start visiting, going to gatherings, looking at property, looking at businesses, getting a feel for different towns. It is lots of fun! A lot easier than piling all your possessions in a covered wagon, too.

My wife was also very reluctant because of family. I used the low-pressure approach over a period of years. I was always looking at properties, ranches, etc on the internet and leaving them on the screen for when she came to look at her mail.

I finally put
this one up there (it was for sale at the time) and she was hooked. We went out and looked at it, and she noticed how fun it was to be out there and how great the people were, so she bought it. Now she has something to play with while we are retired.
I suspect she still will spend a fair amount of time in Oregon, but in two months we are going to be Wyoming citizens!
