Camping/Scouting Trip 8/18-8/27.
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:11:15 AM »
Well, I'm final leaving for Wyoming this morning, at least temporarily. I hope to enjoy camping and hiking in the Mountains and National Forests. But I also hope to investigate possible land to purchase for future home development.

I'm going to drive through SD from Minnesota on 90 then swing south through New Castle. I'll continue through the Big Horns, through Thermopolis, Lander and Dubois. I'm going to camp in the Grand Tetons; then drive up through Yellowstone, explore Park County north of Cody, then down to Meeteetse and head back through the Big Horns. Maybe I'll bump into some of you (not sure if I'll find computer access. I'm going to try to hit the gun show at Upton or Sheridan on the way back home. I'll be bumming around the state until 8/27.

I expect I'll be even more gung ho for Wyoming when I'm done. Next year once I have a better geographical focal point my wife and daughter will come along too.

If you are coming through Newcastle, don't forget to drop in and visit me!! Just let me know what day you'll be here, and I'll be home. If you need a place to crash, I've got an extra bed and bathroom too.

I intend to go to the Upton gun show as well, so we may meet there if all else fails.

Enjoy your trip! I suspect you won't ever be happy again until you can come back to stay. Your family is welcome to email me if they'd like to talk about Wyoming and how good it is to live here.

Have a safe trip!

Strider, hope you get computer access and check your PM's. You'll be in our town so you might as well stop by for a meal!

Praying for safe travel!

Public liberarys all have computers with internet access. Many motels do too.  Just be sure to erase the history.

Hi all,

I've enjoyed my trip so far. I'll give a full report when I'm done. I camped in the Black Hills on Saturday. I got in late so I drove through Newcastle and Upton Sunday morning and camped in the Bighorns at West Tensleep lake and hiked up into Cloud Peak Wilderness area. I spent last night at Sinks Canyon outside of Lander. Today I'm in Dubois (right now at the library). A hotel night for several showers ;D. Then tomorrow I'm into Grand Teton for several days and then on to the Cody area. Right now there is a big fire near here so the town is overrun with firefighters.

I'll try to update again. ~W~

I'm now back in Minnesota after a great time in Wyoming (except for too much time in the car). I spent some great time in the National Forests and National Parks, and also feel like I have good sense of the Northern Half of the state. I've collected enough real estate info to keep me busy for a few months :o. Thanks to those who offered invites and info. I'll try to post a few impressions and thoughts about my trip at a later point.
