Ashamed of Wyoming...
« on: September 12, 2007, 06:40:38 PM »
You know, reading these posts having enthusiasm about Wyoming, makes me think of something. There are actually Wyoming residents who are ashamed of the state!  :o

I know it is hard to believe, but there is a fair amount of that in the mainstream Wyoming press. Editors seem naturally to whine, "why can't Wyoming be more like that big state to the south"? Usually this has to do with disappointment that people here often act like they're free, and the editors want them more controlled. Or something along that line...

There was also that author who wrote Pushed Off the Mountain, Sold Down the River (see my review there).

I guess every state has its nay-sayers. Except perhaps California, which really needs some.  ;)

Most of the nay-sayers in California move to somewhere else!!! LOL No sense beating a dead horse. <G>  But maybe we can convince the Wyoming nay-sayers to move to California!!! Works for me. :)

They may be "Residents" but I seriously doubt they're natives. There's a lot of criticism here in Laramie primarily from the out of state academics that work at the U of W. Wait'l you see my new Pledge of Allegiance.

If we can limit funds for U of Wy grad schools, we could keep some of those academics out!  I think it is not too far-fetched.

Nah. Just provide it on a military veterans-first basis. THEN watch 'em howl!
I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. After I realized he had no use for his shoes, I took them, and then I felt much better about myself.

Now there's a well thought out plan.

I've lived here a year, and I have no idea where he is getting this "Backwards" idea from... I think its from the common socialist theroy that more and more centralized and socialist society is the future (and therefor, forward), wheras those of us who prefer Liberty, Responsibility, and Good old fashion values...are "Backwards".

If you ask me, its NJ and California that is Backwards!

Are you kidding me? California has some - like me, just very few who are still IN California.  >:D

C'mon now, don't rub it in! If I could beam on over to Casper I'd have done it months ago. ;)

How's THIS for Kalifornia naysaying? I think the Wyoming Liberty Index is a good idea, but a California Liberty Index would be a paradox. If anyone so much as tried to invent one, the whole planet might explode. ;D >:D

Hi, again, Serf.
So? Tell us about these appleseed events?

My little brother still lives in "The Land That Should Fall Into The Sea". He might be interested in learning a bit more.

Well, Big Ugly, I wish I could speak from experiance, but the first CA Appleseed was cancelled.
The next one is due here in March. See RWVA.org for LOTS of details.
We are going to Boulder City NV for my first shoot.
Remember here that I am not a spokesman.
The program is geared towards getting people fundamental rifleman skills.
Alot of folks think that because they grew up around guns and go hunting every year that they have become skilled by osmosis. Maybe they have, but the only way to know is to shoot practical posistions
(NOT from a bench rest) for score and time.
The program also teaches history, Revolutionary War history is the emphasis, to awaken sleeping Americans to what our fore fathers went through to get us our rights, and to cherish those rights.
RWVA.org has the straight dope and I recommend the site.
Every one is welcome. Experts are more than welcome(instructors are needed) and young folks, girls, boys and moms are encouraged to come. Young folks shoot FREE!
I'd love to talk your ear off if you want to PM me.
Hope this helps.
