Atlanta? ICK! I worked in Stockbridge for 9 months and couldn't wait to get out. What kind of work do you do? The economy here is in real good shape and there is a serious shortage of skilled labor.

Sounds like you might check out the mining jobs ? Several areas with open pit coal mines which blast and several underground trona mines, but I think most of them have given up blasting.  Not sure how close you are to retirement, none of my business, but many of the older folks working these jobs are getting close to retiring so more jobs will be opening up over the next ten years.

Welcome!

There are plenty of trees in the Black Hills here in the northeast, and many other places in Wyoming. There are also vast stretches of open prairie, and everything in between. Don't know if there are any trees left in Yellowstone...

You might try looking at a "Google" satellite map of the Black Hills for starters.

I'm sorry about it too, Josey. It's a darn shame. But don't worry about FSW. One way or another, by one name or another, the job will get done. Those who have ears to hear will hear, somehow. Just remember that not everyone is cut out for freedom OR Wyoming. :)  ~W~ ~W~

Josey, the farm/ranch paper here is full of ads begging for help. Do you ride, rope, know how to brand and doctor calves/cattle? There are many other jobs available too, such as driving trucks and all of the construction, coal mine, oil field stuff already mentioned in many other threads. There are far more jobs here than people to fill them. If you are flexible, you can find a good job here.

And, with all of the increase in population, some sheriff's departments and local police are looking for help too.

The best way to find the job right for you, however, is to BE HERE. It's tough to get much done long distance, I'm sure. Good luck!

Josey,

As a former resident of the cesspool also known as Atlanta all I want to know is, Why in the hell are you still there?

I was lucky, I found a job on the AIA web page, the Architect flew me out here and offered me a job and here I am. Been here in Sheridan now since November.

As for the open spaces, my daughter goes to UGA, go dawgs, and when she came out here in February she was totally blown away by it's vastness.

The only drawback so far for me is the lack of both public and private shooting ranges that offer completive bulls-eye shooting, but I am working on the gun club here to put in both a 50 and 25 yard bulls-eye range. It may actually happen.

Anyway, best of luck in your move.

Semper Gumby,

Gunny J
