The saddlebags are Kawasaki according to the inner label, they were on the bike when I got it. ... .

My friend just got an '08 and he loves it!  'course he's already cracked the right fairing from a few get offs, but heck that's why we drive KLR's not Beemers right? :D

My old fave for saddlebags were the teardrop BMW *Enduro* bags, which I understand are now being made again,
at least in a limited run for the old /2 pre-1970 BMW riders.

Along the same lines as saddlebags, I thought the FSW bike contingent might note the post here on this interesting little surplus item, which seems very adaptable to a bike: http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswforum/index.php?topic=6645.0

I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. After I realized he had no use for his shoes, I took them, and then I felt much better about myself.

Great stuff, Jared, kudos!

I don't know if this product is still available,
but a "Barsnake" will save your hands from
most of the tingling after long enduro trips.

The street:dirt balance of enduros is a tricky
thing.  The KLR is a bit too dirt for the road,
and BMW 1000+cc GSs are too street for the dirt.

A friend has a 900cc KTM, and it seemed just a
touch heavy for the dirt.

The 800cc BMW GS may be just about perfect, though.
I saw them in South Africa this year, and was in lust.

GS 800 is a great looking bike, but at 392 lbs dry...that's getting real heavy for the off-road stuff.  At $10,000 + you definately do not want to dump that sucker in the dirt !!

Jared:

Regarding wind while riding your bike, check out the following link:

www.laminarlip.com

It attaches over the stock windshield, just a tad bit larger, but the "glass" is angled in such a manner to funnel the air over your head, they work quite well and are priced under $100.

Here's my "dirt" bike:

Yeah, 541 lbs.  ::)  Well, at least it goes down gravel roads. Slowly.

I am trying to sell it. It's just too tall and heavy for me. I think a Ninja 250 is more my speed...
