Hello from WI.
« on: September 24, 2008, 09:09:00 AM »
Greeting to all from Southeastern Wisconsin. I found this forum about 15 minutes ago and had to join. I've always been wanting to move to Wyoming since I first visited there 5 years ago when I went to Yellowstone / Grand Tetons and other areas. I could not believe the differences from there and my city of 100,000 here. Wyoming just called out to me in a way that nowhere else has.

Hey GJD.  If you've never been to an Appleseed, there is going to be one on October 11th and 12th at the Winnequah Gun Club in Lodi, WI.  I may go there, maybe for just Saturday, if I have the time.

Well, the first goal is to convince the wife to move. She is not from this country so that might not be too hard of a problem. Then there is finding a job and a place to live. Time to get searching.

P.S. - MamaLiberty, I have heard many good things about you in other forums for open carrying. I appreciate the headway that you are making. The only thing I've done so far is get detained by the local WI police for open carrying a sidearm  -  I ended up edjucating a couple of officers and then went on my way. I'm assuming that Wyoming is more relaxed.

This table shows that a rather high percentage of people who move to Wyoming from Wisconsin, become permanent residents. They must like it here.  :) Interestingly, other midwest states also rank high - Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan.

Most permanent residents come from Colorado, California and other surrounding states, though.

Thanks for the kind words, Greg. I just keep doing my best, especially working hard to teach other women the benefits (and even the fun) of shooting and the freedom that comes from being able to defend yourself.

I was talking to a lady the other day and she told me she let her husband take care of their defense. I asked her where he was right then and she said he was at work, of course. I just said, "that's handy." :(

They don't believe anything could ever happen to them, especially here in Wyoming. The low crime rate really works against me here as far as that goes.

Anyway, I'm sure your wife will love it here. Just get her to visit with you and we'll do the rest!  >:D

I'm going to have to check out the logistics for eployment, that is the major issue as I dont have a degree yet, and we are young ( early 20's).

Greg, check out: Jobs, Business Opportunities and Employee Recruitment forum on our board.  There seems to be quite a few jobs that you can get while you are getting through school.

Hello Greg,

Welcome and hope that Wyoming will find you home soon.  Do a search on the forum for Cameco.  It's where my husband works and the pay and benefits are awesome.  Close enough to Casper that you could go to school and get/finish you degree possibly.

Are they pretty much always hiring. I have experience in security, shipping / recieving, data entry, computer repair, and sausage packing (no, seriously, I worked in a sausage factory for a while  8) )
