Sublette
« on: October 10, 2008, 12:05:08 AM »
Anyone live in Sublette county?  I have not had the chance to visit Sublette yet, but I like the mountains and I think that it might make a good spot to live based on my admittedly limited research.  What is housing availability/costs like there?  I'm single and I'm looking at getting into trucking so I wouldn't be home all that often.  A small place to live is all I really need for now.

Can anyone tell me more about Sublette?

I live in sweetwater county which is just below sublette.  Haven't heard any specifics lately but I know there is still alot of activity in the oil and gas industry in their backyard.  Probably looking somewhere around $800 dollars minimum for anywhere you rent.  Alot of people bring campers and pay $300 or so  for a space.  Gas is a little more expensive and not a whole lot of options on grocery stores.  Pinedale is becoming the local person's ski resort place to go. Other than that not much to add.

Hay Herk,  I have 10 acres up near Pinedale and while we lived in Rock Springs we spent a lot of time in Sublette. Love it up there.

Thanks for the info guys.  It seems kinda tough to find any first-hand info on Sublette county.  I guess what I'm wondering is this: is there any reason that you could give me not to move there?

Here is the story I was thinking about...........

I don't know how reliable the site is..... after all there is an add for Boston's Gun Bible next to the article >:D.  A bunch right wing radical extremists for sure ;D.

I recall looking into this, that that sheriff is long gone, but the recollection is kinda faint. Couldn't give any details. Google... (or alternative search engine that does not get in bed with the ruling class)

Herk, I can't think of any reason myself. I would love to live there and because I already have a piece of land there I am looking forward to it. There is lots of public land there to explore. The Windriver mountains are awesome! The Green River runs through there too. So lots of out doors activities and ,in my mind, lots of area to bug out in. It gets cold and snowy but you should be use to that eh? The area is still booming with oil and gas drilling so if you have work I think you should be OK. All the towns are small and lots of rural living.
If you want to say, what part of Sublette are you looking at?
