We have some anarchists here, I am one, but it is not an anarchist board nor movement.
'Tis a good thing Kyle will put up with minarchists, as his main squeeze is one!

Howdy Freedog.

I'm new to the site, but excited to find a place like this.  And some of my best friends are lawyers.

Any way, if you are interested in the NE quadrant, you might contact Lubnau, Bailey, Dumbrill (actually I think Dumbrill left to become a part time judge) and I'm not sure his name is still on the door or not.  But he is building a cabin by hand at the old Dumbrill Ranch SW of Sundance and he make his own archery equipment and shoots a .50 flintlock for big game.  Pretty good bunch of folks, from the limited contact I've had.  They handled a workers comp situation for my wife a couple of years ago.

Just a thought.

By all means, stop in the next time you make a trip out here.

Freedog...

Good to have you around......  I think you will fit right in here.  One more perspective never hurts a thing.....  And, well, New York is a good place to be from,  away from, that is.  Kind a like Chicago. ;D

Thank you, Dani.  Funny you should phrase it like that, as when I travel and people ask where I am from, I tell them I am not "from" New York, I just exist here.  I can't get "away from" this place fast enough.  The Left is absolutely vicious here.  And the government just keeps adding taxes.  The State recently decided on another tax:  self-employed persons and businesses now have to pay 1/3 of 1% of their profits to subsidize the MTA.  I am done!  It is just a matter of time, I hope.

I'm trying Gene.  I need to find work first, though.  If were up to me, I would be on my way already.  What's it like in January.  I make make it out again in January or late February/early March.  Btw, I like your website.  I bet it would be great to sit and chat with you over a cup of coffee.

What's it like in January.

It's a lot like Upstate NY with fewer people, fewer trees (at least here in the NE) and more antelope.  Oh and fewer taxes.  But cold, and can get pretty snowy.  Gods way of giving us a break from tourists.

I had a friend in the AF (Hill AFB, Ut) from the Bronx or Brooklyn maybe, didn't know what those critters running around were.  I said "Jack Rabbits, you've never seen a jack rabbit before?"  Then he asked me what a Mormon looked like.  And I thought I had a sheltered upbringing in the Salt Lake burbs.

I was just wondering if I'll be able to get around without a snowmobile.  :)

Freedog:  You were wondering about the winters.  The amount of snowfall varies widely around the state, as do the temps.  There are several areas known locally as winter banana belts.  And also several (Big Piney comes to mind) known as cold sinks.  Do some research.  WeatherUnderground is a good site for that, loads quick and has general and historical info, all is done via town name or zip code.

Compare your area of NY state, to various areas in WY.  Winter hours of daylight favor WY generally, compared to NY, by a few minutes.  But the operative difference between NY and WY winters, is humidity.  It's a drier cold here, and feels better given equal thermometer readings.

Coldest I've ever been in my life was in New York in May, at Ft Drum.  And that includes working on the Arctic Ocean in winter.  Ft. Drum beat Prudhoe Bay for the miserable-ness of living outside in the cold.

Welcome, welcome, welcome..........

I'm in the middle(Casper-ish) of the state so if you should happen to need info for that area let me know.
I hope that you find your way out here sooner as opposed to later.

Welcome aboard Freedog!
The northeast corner of the state is not all that cold in the winter.  It rarely blizzards anymore.
Speaking of summer, Gillette didn't break 100 degrees even once this year.  Jackson Hole is does get cold (it has the best skiing though).  It is a very beautiful place to live.  Sheridan is also a wonderful place for sheer beauty.  It lies at the foot of the Bighorns.  Lander/Riverton area is in the shadow of the Wind River mountains and shares the same outdoor grandour.  Casper is the "big" city, as is Cheyenne.  The wind blows a great deal in these two places.  The one indicator that someone has lived in Casper would be the way they lean into the wind!  There are days when the wind is so bad that they issue a warning for children and small dogs, because it will blow them to Nebraska! It seems that there is no shortage of work for an attorney in this great state.  Best of luck to you.

Thank you Prairie Fire, Brandy and Wyominglady.  That leaning as an indicator is funny stuff.  I am applying to the Wyoming Bar and then may just head on out to see what I can find.  In the short time I was in Wyoming, I was surprised at how friendly and helpful people were.  Finding FSW and this site with people who respect individual rights is so promising.  I sincerely look forward to meeting each and every one of you.
