Medical Facilities
« on: November 25, 2009, 07:17:08 PM »
Hello again,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how close comprehensive medical facilities are to your particular areas? My wife has Lupus and allot of other secondary illnesses from the Lupus. Most of the time we get things squared away with just a emergency room visit, but sometimes it takes a stay in the hospital. Are there some good doctors around your area?

Thanks!

Weston County has a nice hospital, small but clean and friendly. The nearest major medical center is in Rapid City, SD - about 80 miles away. Gillette, WY has a hospital too, but the distance is about the same and it is not on a par with the SD hospital. We have three good doctors in Newcastle here.

Crook County has clinics in Hulett, Moorcroft, and Sundance. Just GPs, no specialists. Sudance has a small hospital. The next closest ones are Gillette and Spearfish (SD).

More,
I have a heart condition and my wife has MS. But many doctors around WY have "outreach" services where they visit smaller places every other week for routine visits. My wife's neurologist flies in from Rapid City to Gillette. My cardiologist comes in from Casper once a week (to Gillette).

Where there's a will, there's a way!
