Greetings (translation: Howdy) from the dark side.
« on: December 30, 2009, 03:13:51 AM »
I'm not so good at meeting new people.
But, your site was recommended by some people I've developed a bit of respect for.

So, hi.

Myself, the wife, 2.5 kids, looking to relocate and really liking the sound of Wyoming.
I'm not the most sociable kinda person, I won't be at all the BBQ's, or one of the guys standing around with a beer while several others work on a car engine and BS with each other on a saturday night...
(sorry about that, but I think I'll make up for it in the long run)

Best case scenario, freinds and neighbors kinda thing develops right, and eventually some mutual trust is established, and things go well.
So, I am the kinda person you can call at any hour of the night, and shortly after I'll be there, whatever the problem is.
Somebody needs an extra hand, so long as I've still got one, I'll always offer it.
And well hopefully not, but possibly, down the road, and God forbid, some of the darker predictions I have come true, and you're holding off a hostile force thats come calling at your home in the dark of night with ill-intent, me and the wife will start dropping bad guys before they know we're there and by the time they do and try to return fire my oldest will start dropping indirect fire into their midst and cause mass panic so me and the wife can finish them off.  Then maybe we can all have some cocoa or something.  But, lets not make a habit of it.

Anyway...  yeah, I like to get creative with wording some times, but its still true.

Oh, and before someone else airs my dirty laundry, I'm currently a God-fearing, Christ-loving, tax-eating parasite, as some tend to call it.
But, I try to keep an open mind.  Hopefully you all will too.
hmm...  what was my point in all this?
Oh yeah.
Hi.

Welcome! I'm so glad to see you here. Do read as much of the old stuff as you can so you get to know some of us better. This forum is very, very different from TMM. Our main purpose here is to discuss ways to get to Wyoming, how to cope once we are here, and how to help each other both ways in the meantime.

We don't discuss much about politics or spend much time analyzing the current insanity in Washington DC... unless it relates directly to our main purpose somehow.

So, I urge you to visit Wyoming, and make a point of meeting others of our FSW communities here. A good way to do that is our annual camp out in June. You'll meet a much larger cross section of FSW members and those considering a move to Wyoming. The next one should be a doozie, with a professional class available in both survival techniques and firearms.

Our campfire discussions are about as removed from the usual BBQ nonsense as it is possible to imagine. And, far as I know, nobody stands around with a beer while others work... they get handed a wrench or hammer. :) That is until the work is done, of course. At least one of our local members brews some mighty fine beer!!

June will work for me.  I'm glad you and SoCal mentioned this site.
I know the wife is looking forward to the area recon. (aka road trip)

To be honest...
I'm just worried about job prospects.  No idea what that's going to be like.
I'm basically changing my entire career path.

Wonderful! We'll be tickled to meet you.

Many of us have changed career paths totally since coming to Wyoming. There ARE jobs here, but not usually the city kind. I'm sure there is a need for real peace officers. There are very few "police" departments here, mostly sheriffs. Not much real crime here either. No big city car chases or dynamic entry stuff...  But there are still cattle being rustled so the brand inspectors and range detectives probably outnumber the sheriffs. LOL

The oil, gas and coal industries offer the most jobs in some areas, Weston county included. I suspect they hire security people as well.

Someone else here probably has more information. :)

Your probably going to have to be a little 'jack of all trades' in Wyoming. Not to many real specialists here so to speak.

Kinda swim or drown avocatiotianally..............C'mon out, love to see ya.

Hi Warbourne!
Like everywhere else, jobs depend upon the local economy. Not much demand for lifeguards up here!
But lots of demand for equipment operators and things done with the hands.

When I get into Gillette every 10 days or so, and eat at a fast food place, I see nobody wearing ties. See lots of worker types pulling up in PU trucks and company service trucks.

Anyway, glad to hear your interested in FSW.

My thanks for the warm welcome and the positive encouragement.

I worked for a steel fabrication company couple years back, custom parts and pieces, multi-tipped gas cutters run on computer, and I spearheaded their installation of a new rebar cutting machine that unrolled it, straightened it, measured and binned it, then wire wrapping the bundles and overhead crane lifting them out and palletizing....

With a fond memory of doing some real work that sent me home every night exhausted and with a clear conscience.
(loved playing with the cutting torch too)

Yeah, definitely made up my mind to find a real job and start over.
Not trying to get all misty, but I'm feeling real good about all this.
Like God offering me a second chance or something.

Oh yeah, MamaLiberty, was reading your site and read the 'New 2009 Declaration of Independence'
...and its like waking up in a movie reading the points of interest, what the fedgov's actually doing, thinking, "Is this really happening?"
It's insane, most people would never even imagine they are living future history on such a level,
It makes me wonder who the person was just weeks ago that had never had some of the 'awakening' ideals and thoughts, like I've had in just the past few days even...   its hard to come to grips with it all.
Seems surreal even.

Then comes the moment where I realize I'm I'm kinda babbling..
So, yeah, can't wait.

That's great! Whatever it takes... get here soon. We may not have much more time to prepare - and the more prepared and integrated free people we have here, the better chance any of us have to survive. Wyoming needs you. :)
