Quality of Life
« on: April 18, 2006, 10:34:55 AM »
from the mailing list, I thought it was worth reposting:
-------------------------------

From: "Mark A. Laughlin"
Subject: WY Quality of Life

RT Communications provides phone and broadband service to several
Wyoming communities...including the NE communities: Hulett, Osage,
Moorcroft, Upton, Newcastle. We also cover Kaycee, Midwest, Gas Hills,
Shoshoni, Thermopolis, Worland, Pine Bluffs and Burns.

DSL can be made available to almost any RT serving area with just a
handful of committed subscribers.

My advice to all FSW prospects is to discard all the trivial debate
and make the move. It is true that you probably won't earn as much as
your make now. It is true that you may not have a Super Walmart right
next door. However, until you've actually experienced it, you just
don't know how good freedom feels. Not just the freedom from
government tyranny, but being freed from big city commutes and big
city crime.

Try to imagine what it's like to be able to be out in the middle of
nowhere within just a few minutes for some really long range shooting.
Try to imagine what it's like to ride your motorcycle out for some
shooting with your military pattern rifle slung across your back with
local residents only having a passing interest (wide eyed California
vacationers, however, make for amusing witnesses).

I truly would not return to Houston (the most gun friendly big city)
for ten times the money I make in Wyoming. Quality of Life is not BS.
Other cities are no more than social cesspools and beyond
consideration.

FSW is not just an opportunity to promote liberty, but to live it. You
will love your life so much more in Wyoming.

Darned good advice Mark, :)

I've been sayin much the same as long as I've been on this and the old Yahoo forums.

FREEDOM ISN"T FREE[/b]

The way I see and understand most of what's being said on this forum is most people here think this country is going down the tubes faster'n a rocket ship to hell!
Most here also believe Wyoming is possibly the best possible place to be when that happens, Iszat correct?

If that's a correct assunption, y'all ought ta be packing & fillin the cars gas tank right now!
If'n yer not, Why not? Should the economy collapse, or the gov't attempt a further restriction of freedom, what makes ya think you'll be able to afford or even allowed to move here or, anywhere else for that matter?

I'm gonna say it again!

SNOOZERS LOSE![/b]

Man, did you ever hit that nail on the head Pete! When was the last time any of our "Wyoming bound" members could walk outside and see ALL the stars? When was the last time any of them woke up on saturday to a foot of fresh powder and made the instant decision to cancel their plans and go SKIING? I can walk 2 blocks from our appartment to the local gas station, plop down the cash and walk home with a new 1911. When was the last time any of them could do that? Most of all, our large urban areas are serious cesspools on the brink of total collapse. LISTEN to Pete folks. Pack your stuff and make the move NOW!!! b

Many people in the FSW have already moved, or are doing so this year.
Their stories are often posted in our forum.
Read, learn, and be inspired to join us!

At least attend our Memorial Day Weekend Jamboree in Worland, Wyo.

Last night.

Easter Sunday (I know, you said "Saturday morning" not Sunday, but we still got 18" of fresh powder!)

You got me there.? We can't buy guns at gas stations here... (other than private sales, of course) but we can "plop down the cash and walk home with a new 1911" at any gun store, plus not have to pay any sales tax.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from moving to Wyoming - not by a long shot.? I'm just saying that there are other areas in this vast nation of ours that still offer some of the more valuable "freebies" life has to offer.? Not everybody lives in a major city.? I live in a town of less than 2,500 people that sits at just under 5,000 feet in elevation (nicknamed "Tall Town").? There are no fast (junk) food companies, no gang-bangers, no homeless people, no traffic jams, in fact there's not even one traffic signal in town.? I only have to? go less than a mile from my house to shoot.? Many folks drive around with rifles visibly displayed in their pickup truck windows.?

All of this, plus some of the best hunting and fishing in the west - but it's still Oregon and unfortunately, the majority of the states' population lives in the socialist cesspool (Portland area) and very heavily influence issues throughout the entire state.? Issues that they have absolutely no knowlwdge of or about and accordingly, should have absolutely no say in.? But, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

I'm still planning on moving to Wyoming, but probably not until I retire from my current job (about 4 years to go).

Colorado is also very "top-heavy" politically towards the front range
of Boulder/Denver/C.Springs.

Wyoming is rather unique in being about the least top-heavy
Western state.  Cheyenne doesn't boss around the state as
do most other capitols.

It is happening in Wyoming too.  Not as fast, but there are many things taking place which will turn it in to another Kalifornia.  The faster growing communities are hiring city managers, and, low and behold, they want to manage.  They want to manage all growth thru zoning, and regulation of all sorts..........  >:(
