Just got back from a whirlwind tour of Wy
« on: September 09, 2006, 10:08:23 AM »
Me and the Fam spent 3 days and drove 1200 miles. Loved the Blackhills and Big Horns most! Of all the Cities and towns we passed thru, My wife and I like Sundance Wyoming the best. Talk about a beautiful little place....Wow! Does Wy have room for a couple more Patriots/Constitutionalist?

Anyone here from Sundance or can tell me more about the town?

Thanks,

Patriot

Too bad you didn't let us know you were coming! Several of us could have met with you along the way and filled you in on a lot of things. If you come back through, just let us know! I'd love to show you my little town of Newcastle, not too far from Sundance.

There is plenty of room for you here! And we're all ready and willing to help as much as possible.

Welcome to Wyoming!  ~W~ ~W~ ~W~

Patriot, Glad to here your trip was worth while !  I believe there are a few members there and hopefully they will chime in here.
So when are you packing up and moving ? ;)   Here is a Sundance web site if you haven't already seen it.

Thanks for your replies.

Mamma Liberty, I'll be happy to let you know when we'll be commin around again (probably in the spring). I appreciate your kindness.

Wyomiles, Thanks for the link.  I have a business and house to sell here in Kali before moving out but rest assured we're coming. I can't stand this "Commie" state anymore. I don't feel like a free man here.

P.S. - An input/advice from someone who lives in Sundance and or the black hills area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm in Sundance, been here since May, and I think it's great!
It can be a little tight finding housing, especially with a family, but it's not insurmountable.
I've met a lot of friendly people in town and have some regular friends now.
For shopping I typically head to Spearfish SD a half hour away.  There's a grocery store in town that I go to for convenience but I try to combine the drive to SD with a restaurant trip or a movie or something.
The football team won state last year (not sure what division).
I like it because even though it's a small town (~1200 '00 census, but there's more now) it feels a bit bigger I think due to I-90 and proximity to Spearfish.
Even Gillette is only an hour away and they've got more services and Home Depot and stuff.

Can you move your business with you?  For "good" jobs you'll probably have to go to Gillette, Newcastle, or Spearfish, but depending on the age of your kids the local places are all hiring now that school's back in session (gas stations, restaurants, etc.).

Jared - I don't have the kind of business I can move. I have to sell in order to move which is alright by me (Getting tired of it anyway). Im looking forward to a little R&R, Fishing, Hunting, Exploring etc. Wyoming looks real real good. Mind if we (Family) look you up when we come by again? Im thinking spring or there abouts.

Miles. GREAT INFO. I didn't know those threads existed! The Black Hills and surrounding countryside is stunning. My wife loves it as well. As Jared pointed out finding a home is going to be work. Thats ok. Looking forward when the time is right.

Be sure to look at Newcastle when you come. We are right at the foot of the Black Hills and there is both property and housing available here, at pretty reasonable prices... at least for now. Don't know what may happen by spring, of course. It will depend at least some on what happens in Gillette and some of the other "boom" areas.

Anyway, it's worth a look. We have a beautiful little town here, and lots of room all around it, including the beautiful hills.

Welcome to Wyoming!  ~W~

Thanks Momma. I plan on considering Newcastle as a possible residence. Im sure its a wonderful place.

Your right about Gillette being a "Boom" town. Its supposed to have 20,000 folks but I swear they had rush hour traffic thru the main drag at dinner time! My guess is the population is closer to 50,000????
