Welcome, John and family! Can you make it to the Jamboree in June? We'd love to meet you, and you'll be able to meet a lot of us!

Welcome Blakejoh.  Your experience with Idaho will be most interesting to many here, as Idaho was or is on the 'Move To' list. ~W~

Thank you, MamaLiberty and bobcat.  My wife is looking into the possibility of us attending the Jam this year.  It's a challenge because we have animals and irrigation that need regular attention, but the neighbor has offered to help.  Hopefully we can work it out.

I'll be happy to report on our impressions of Idaho as time goes on.  Freedom was the biggest reason we chose this region of the country.  Although I can now see reasons why Wyoming might be better, I also see benefits of getting freedom lovers to migrate to any part of the Wyoming/Montana/Idaho region.

Speaking of the region, does anyone know what happened to the Free West Alliance?  I learned of it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_West_Alliance (which is also where I learned of FSW!), but it seems to be inactive.  (WARNING:  The 'Official Site of Free West Alliance - Expired domain' link in that article takes you to a porn site.  Beware!!)  I think it would be worth the effort to keep the FWA movement going.  Maybe it is still active under a different name?

It seems to have morphed into this: http://www.montana-alliance-for-liberty.org/index.shtml

Lots of good people there, and they have a forum as well. I don't dare even visit, however. I just don't have time!!! :) ML

Thanks for your willingness to share.  While Wyoming offers my skillset the best opportunity for corporate employment, Idaho was my first choice based on my visits there and those of friends that have visited or live there.  I absolutely love the mountains and heavy forests.  However, unless I find a ranch or small business for sale, that is very unlikely.  Even if I gain corp employment in Wy, I will be looking for a small ranch or small business right away...

Actually, Free West Alliance morphed into MAL and into Free State Wyoming!  :)  Basically, the 3-state movement became state-specific. Also FWA was having a heck of a time getting their forum hacked, which accellerated FWA's "demise". That little bit of history made us very careful about forum software selection, this time around. Of course it didn't hurt to have a first-class forum administrator, Joseph. Worth his weight in gold...   :)

Thanks Paul.  I also located the archived copy of the FWA site, and it talked about the hacking problems as well.  Not only that, I also saw "Paul Bonneau has updated his Wyoming Freedom Index to reflect the Wyoming legislature?s 2004 session."  So that kinda brought me full circle.  :)

I know I'm straying off-topic for this thread, but I'm curious what other FSW folks think about the idea of a 3-state movement.  To me it seems like a good thing, but I don't have the historical perspective that many of you undoubtedly do.  Any thoughts?  (Please feel free to direct me to a different topic area if it would be more appropriate.)

Thanks!

Mr. Bonneau, I salute your humility through this thread. Especially when the question of July 4th came about.  >:D I for one am looking forward to packing up the pu and the family and heading to Cody for the "Cody Stampede and Rodeo"!!! I folks want a great experience for the fourth then head to Cody. If you're heading that way let me know, I'd love to get together and have a great time. Paul A.

Er?  ???  :)

I'm not much of a flag-waver. We have a great country run by a rotten government, and I don't want to give people the impression I support the government - an impression that is sometimes conveyed by putting a flag out. What I need to do, though, is get my hands on a "Don't Tread On Me" flag.

I wasn't aware Cody has a rep for a big 4th celebration. However there is a huge fireworks store on the west end of town near the Ballard factory, I think open all year round; maybe that has something to do with it. We will be in town this year, so we can see. I will pass my email address to you via PM, so maybe we can all go together; however we are so plugged into this town by now we may be in other parties. I will let you know.

Speaking of fireworks, will they be allowed at this year's Jam?
Thanks,

I believe you can get the Gadsen and Culpepper flags - and lots of others - here: http://confederatereprint.com/index.php?cPath=27&osCsid=465c6b612939e728180884bca84fb02e

Let me know if you get one and how the supplier treats you. I've had this link at my website for years but never heard from anyone who bought anything from them. ML
