Introduction

I have come across your movement through my personal research on the history of this nation and of individual liberty. I have been a libertarian all my life (little "L"). I would love to be near like-minded people. Currently, I am serving in the US Army and intend to end my contract in 2010 for many reasons. My intention would then be to move to Wyoming. Love the terrain and the views. I would prefer Colorado, but they have become too California'd (where I was born by the way).

As far as income is concerned, I wouldn't mind trying to start a business up there, or perhaps running for office in one of the levels of gov't out there. I could even work for the Sheriff's Office, but I would never do city police. If anyone needs an employee for a while, I can do that too.

I currently live in Arizona which is an open carry state, although if you open carry out here, you get looked at strange. I believe in protecting yourself and not counting on others to do it for you. I also believe if you delegate your safety to someone, they will take more than you are willing to give.

I noticed you have a requirement of ten posts to become a member. I have also noticed that most of the threads are nearly dead. I do not believe in followership, so attempting to gain someone's blessing to be deemed a contributing member to our individual liberties is something I am not after, however, I do intend to end up around you all and help remove the intrusions on our way of life.

Hope that is a good quick start on introducing myself and I hope this will help lead to a lasting friendship.

We have a lot of different opinions, but mostly everyone agrees on Liberty.

Some more info on myself, since I am sure some people are wondering:

Religion: Agnostic, Mainly Christian but against the church. I have my reasons.
Politics: About as libertarian as it gets, but still on the fence about certain ideas (ie I would love to argue some points with Rothbard, which most libertarians agree had most of it right). I do not believe in parties, but I do believe in organizing. I support Ron Paul whole-heartedly.
Economics: I am an Austrian Economist. I am a business major with emphasis on Economics and hopefully soon Real Estate and will die trying to bring back honest free money.
Family: Have a wife and daughter. Daughter is 19 months old. Wife is 4 years older than myself. Been together 8 years, married 6. Met in Germany during my first tour there.
Employment: Work for US Army near 9 years now. In intelligence. Specifics I won't get into.
Born: In California, Los Angeles County. I am young. Will not disclose my age except in person.
Hobbies: Computers, Language, Music, Culinary Arts, History
Why I post so much since I've been here: Need to vent. Read somewhere that this should be main forum. I usually don't open my mouth in forums, but feel welcome here. Have a lot to talk about and not many good friends until recently (My Liberty Tree group here in Arizona)
Where I live: Currently in SE Arizona about 15mins from Tombstone.
Ambitions: To live where I am surrounded by like minded people. To own a couple apartment buildings to bring in enough to support my lifestyle permanently. To raise a family on my values. To take back my liberty. To continue life-long learning. To publish some books. To start a restaurant when I am successful enough to focus on it.
Pleasures: Beer, Reading, Movies, Shooting/Arms/Combatives
Personality: Passive/Aggressive, Usually only a listener but feel like opening my mouth lately. The type most people go to in order to confide in.
Beliefs: A man should provide everything for his family. A woman should not have to worry about a thing unless they want to. Everyone has a right to their individual ways, as long as those ways do not interfere with mine.
Arms: Used to have firearms, don't atm. Should, but broke. Working on rearming.

There are a few, hopefully that helps you figure me out. I only wrote short quips, they are actually more involved and have reasons behind them all.

Actually, no. "If I told you, I'd have to kill you" really means: "If I told you, and they found out it was me, I'd be locked up forever". I have no gripes in saying what I want to say and to whom I wish to say it. It just has to be the right circumstances at the time, and anyone in intel would say the same thing, if they were true citizens that is. OCD, I am sure I have a touch of it, at least I can remember a time that I would have qualified under current diagnosis terminology. But, I truely believe most of that science is mostly a farse, and most people are just quirky in their own way anyway, and the science just uses those diagnoses as a way of feeding you expensive drugs to make you feel "normal".

And as a quick side note to finish the intel thing. The reason I won't say anything more about it, is so that people I work with cannot easily narrow down who I am (if they happen to be wondering who this is that is writing in this forum). I am a big privacy advocate.

Heh... speaking of "feeling normal"... I wonder if people realize how they've been fed mediocrity and didn't notice.  Norm == Average.  An average individual is also described as mediocre.  Medium.  Median.  In the middle.  Neither excelling, nor exceeding expectations.  Barely treading water, etc.

Does anyone really want to live a "normal" life?  Doesn't that imply being average or mediocre?  Yet our whole childhood's either in school or other places, we're taught that the sky's the limit.

Personally I would prefer to say... "why stop at the sky?"  I'm still working on getting my own stream of permanent revenue worked out.  Still young though, so I'm not all that concerned about it.

Back to our subject.  Being an intelligence fellow, I'm curious if the intelligence community actually pay attention to language and meaning and how it has been morphed and misused, or if they just look for language and misinterpret it just like the rest of the "masses" in order to drag out a BGOTW "bad guy of the week" for the mass media to crucify in public.  Just curious.  You don't have to say anything on the forum, or even in person (whenever our paths cross) but I am curious if the intelligence people actually look at the ridiculous misuse of language, or just take it as they've been taught in the public education system and go with that?

Oxymoron, jokingly. Thing is we have the majority of the numbers and budget, and therefore the highest (nominally) amount of incompetance (majority of entry-level as well). As far as the jokes I know on the subject, not many, sorry.  :-\ Wish I did.

Feeling "normal". Completely agree on your analysis. I am against chemical consumption to produce "normalcy".

Intel subject. Intel folks are like any cross-section of society. Good, bad, and everything inbetween. Are there intel folks that pay attention to vocabulary? Yes. Some even specialize in it. Most of the twisting of ideas are politically motivated by decision-making level individuals. Some intel folks go with it and do not realize it, just like society. We have a good number of decent folks though. Believe it or not, the military as a whole is more libertarian than other cross-sections, and proportionately in intel as well. There are always fights amongst us. Sometimes they win, sometimes we do. We do see misuse of language. Ever wondered why the NIE for Iran came to public as it did? Not by chance I would say. Although, I would have to say intel folks need to take the red pill more often.

Welcome to our forum. Everyone needs to vent. Even though I frequently find myself "preaching to the choir" with my friends, it still feels good!

I sometimes get a few people looking at me weird when I OC too, but it doesn't stop me. I like it best when they have the courage to ask me about it, like "Are you a police officer"? Then it starts a lively conversation about RKBA, being not a cop, but a citizen, the advantages of OC over CC (no "persmission"), etc. Strangly, I get less people asking about it up here in WY than I did when I lived in NV.

I like your take on things. The country needs more people like you. Thanks,
