new to free state wyoming...
« on: November 24, 2008, 12:24:29 PM »
I recently join the Free State Wyoming Forum and I thought I may as well introduce myself.  My husband and I and our two beautiful daughters(ages 18months & 3years) are planning to move back to Wyoming in the next year or two.  We lived in Wyoming together for a couple years but we moved back to CA to go to college and can not wait to move back.  My husband’s parents are giving us a couple acres to build on in Washakie County so we are saving to build a house.  We plan on raising some animals, having a fat garden and working on becoming self efficient, including homeschooling our children. My husband was born and raised in Wy and I am from CA. I know what you’re thinking, great all we need is another californian but its ok I am here to help.  I was never really into politics, until I heard the message of freedom.  It was like finding a missing piece of the puzzle, it just makes sense!  Dr Ron Paul first introduced this message to us and we did some work locally for his campaign.  It was awesome to have been a part of that campaign but after it was over we quickly realized that our efforts are wasted in a state like CA.  We considered New Hampshire for a little bit but Wyoming is the place for us and we thought you guys could use the help;)  We cannot wait to move back!!!! We miss the open space, the mountains, the badlands, the little storms that blow quickly in and out of the summer afternoons, snow, finding arrowheads, camping... the list could go on and on.
There is a little bit about us and now some questions about you...
Are there any free staters up in Washakie County?
How much support do we have within the state?
How active is the support network?
What’s the plan?
How do we help?

Thank you guys so much for being there and watching over Wyoming while we are away and we look forward to meeting and working with you all.

Welcome! I'm another California transplant, so nobody is going to throw stones at you.

I'm sure the folks from up north there will let you know about Washakie. I know there are people in Thermopolis, Cody, Sheridan and Big Horn - and you would not be THAT far from those of us in Crook, Campbell and Weston counties.

What can you do to help? What's the plan? Get here as soon as you can!! We will help YOU do that as much as we can. The activity of the support network depends a lot on where you are and how much you ask for help. Nobody is going to impose it on you, so you need to ask about what you need, then see if we can provide it.

Hope you can come out in the spring and meet folks at one of the camp outs. Keep in touch! MamaLiberty

Hello, LibertyJunkie,
I, too, am an escapee from the PRK (Peeples Republik of Kalifornia. I left there in the early 70's and have only gone back once to visit family in the mid 80's. NEVER AGAIN!
I am in Fremont County (Lander) at present, along with a couple of others in the area. There are a few up in Hot Springs Co. so you would be completely alone down here.
There are some really beautiful places up that way, HWY 14 & 14A, and Hwy 16 through the mountains. I ride up that way fairly often on my motorcycle.
Welcome, let us know if you need any help. I'm sure those who can will.

Thank you all for the welcoming and for offering to help move, we will keep that in mind for when the time comes. It is tempting to pack up and move today but I think it'll be worth the wait as long as the wait isn't too long.

I am new to the group as of yesterday.  I am here because of my great concern for the break down of our constitution.  In particular, 1st and 2nd amendment rights.  I was lucky to find the group while reading a book by Boston.  I ordered all of them I could find yesterday and am astounded by the depth of knowledge in the green one.  Very grateful for that knowledge as well.  It answered many questions I have and I have just begun the book.  I am also here because I have been searching for a place to call home and have been considering WY and MT for the last 6 months or so.  It is good to be here and I look forward to someday meeting you.  I also appreciate this group as just knowing you are there gives me hope for our freedom.  It is truly a very scary day when there are those that would disarm honest people thereby taking away our right to defend ourselves, as well, to be able to feed ourselves, spirit of fun competition and all the other GOOD things the 2nd amendment provides for in the hands and lives of good people.

A good day to all

Welcome! We hope you can come to be with us soon.

Most of us have come to understand that the constitution and the amendments do not "provide" anything. They were written with various purposes, one of which was an attempt to forbid government infringment on our basic HUMAN rights to life and self defense. They have completely failed in that purpose.

Ultimately, each individual must guarantee those rights for themselves by personal commitment and hard work. Nobody else, and certainly not piece of paper, can provide that for us.

MamaLiberty, thank you for the welcome and your words of wisdom.

please feel free to give me council regarding some good communities to be focusing my relocation on.  My hope is to relocate sometime this summer.  I know how to garden, to shoot, to stand on my own, though I have never lived off the grid that is my ultimate goal.  I don't want to live in town but within driving distance to my job.  If this is not the place to ask this question please direct this newbie.

regards

Bless your heart! This is as good a place as any - though the mods may move it.

We've found that the very best idea is for folks to come visit at least once before they decide where to settle. It's almost impossible to tell you enough to make a good decision, though I am one of the exceptions and just MOVED - let the chips fall where they would. I rented a small apartment in South Dakota at first (since then there was nothing for rent here) and was fortunate enough to find the perfect place for me quite easily.

Where you locate will depend a lot on what you need for a job. If you can bring your job with you, even if it is "on line," you will be able to choose to live almost anywhere.

You can see photos of Weston county and Newcastle here at my blog: http://www.fundamentalsoffreedom.com/fswblogs/mamaliberty/

Please feel free to ask questions. We're eager to welcome you here.
