Greetings From the People's Democratik Rublik of IOWA
« on: August 26, 2009, 07:11:11 PM »
Hello Free State Wyoming.

As the subject line reads, I currently reside in the People's Democratic Republic of IOWA (stands for I Often Wander Around).  My wife and I love Wyoming.  We have been going there intermittently for vacations since we were first married 29 years ago.  I will soon retire from the military and want to live free as possible.  But it will take a couple of years before we can divest ourselves of this location.  Wyoming seems to be the place to be.  I hope that things have been improving even more.  I need a place where I can trust the citizen patriots around me to watch my back as I would watch theirs (unlike the ovine subjects that comprise my current neighbors).  So to start with, I would like to become a citizen of Wyoming for voting purposes.  Is it really possible and as simple as written in Boston's Moln Labe'?  Point me in the right direction.  Much appreciated.

Charlie

Sorry if I sounded like a lunatic on my previous entry.  Just a bit frustrated.

Nope, no lunacy detected.  :D

Welcome to the board. Sorry I can't help with any specific answers, I'm still in Arizona, but I'm sure you'll get some info from the others soon.

Thanks Wyosmiles,

Will dig...a lot.

We'll be driving through next week, but probably won't be able to stay for more than an overnight, but still get to be there for just a  bit.

Already found the voter residency requirements.  Just need to work out the logistics.   ;D

Welcome, and do get your wife to talk to us here too. Visit with as many of the folks here as you can. Sometimes it's amazing how different people are in person! :)
It's not that people are dumber, it's that stupidity used to be more painful.

Welcome from another Iowan (somewhat moot since you already found me first, but welcome all the same).  Yes, Iowa is quite a paradox.  Plenty of open space, nice people, relatively liberty oriented (about in the middle, about where Iowa stands in almost any ranking), but I think at some point we picked up cooties from Illinois or something  ;D.  I've had this funny theory:  If it can be agreed that Iowa is behind the times, and it can also be agreed that the overall state of the world is in decay, then would that not also mean that Iowa, being in a retarded state of decay, would be one of the nicest places to live  ;)?  But then again, that is sort of the point of why I'm planning on Wyoming...even though the state of decay in Iowa is retarded, the effects are well on their way!

On Friday, My wife and I drove through Wyoming on our way to visit friends and family in Spokane and Kennewick in Washington.  Sometime tomorrow we will be heading home again.  This time it will be a more leisurely drive.  We are going to try and go through Yellowstone/Teton.  Thinking about exiting Teton via Moran and then drive through Lander and angle on down.  Never been on that road yet.  If we do, then we will have driven on most of the major roads through the state.
