Who knows what the future price will be. It'll be higher. If you're just learning this I feel worried for you. Good luck.

It could be lower. Don't get me wrong, I expect the Fed to print money & cause hyper-inflation but you never know. We may have a deep depression with deflation. Not likely, but possible.

I'm not sure which is worse, a deep depression or hyper-inflation.  :(

Where's the moderator!? I didn't read through all of this grammatical disaster ^^ but it looks pretty spammy to me. This is the second post of this type I've come across so far. It's almost unintelligible and totally off topic! Are we being infiltrated?

The moderators are pretty quick to eliminate this stuff. It is best not to respond in any way, except to click on the link in the spam post that says "report to moderator." That's all anyone needs to do.

And, unfortunately, spam is a part of almost every message board and forum I know. Just has to be dealt with.

I was looking for a "report spam" button, but I see now that it says "report to moderator." Anyway, someone has apparently dispatched this ne'er-do-well already. And since the post in question has been duly removed, let me state for the record that I was not accusing Steve C. of being unintelligible (as it now appears).

Sure... and that's one reason we discourage folks from responding to the spam... makes the thread messy once they are removed. :)

That's good to hear. I was wondering why he was calling my post spam.  ;D

Meanwhile... back at gas prices... I paid $3.43 for unleaded reg. here in Newcastle on Tuesday. That's cash price. Credit card costs you another 3 cents a gallon. One place advertises 10 cents a gallon off on Sunday if you buy at least 10 gallons. My car only holds 8 gallons when bone dry.  Need to take a 5 gallon gas can with me, but I never remember.

I believed I paid $3.82 on Sunday. Let's call it an even 50 cents more here (North Florida).
And did I read somewhere previously that you have non-ethanol? All gas here contains at least 10%. Also, not to pry, but what sort of vehicle only holds 8 gallons?

Yes, you can get gas with no alcohol in it. Usually a bit more expensive. I drive a little Saturn. It gets 36 MPG. <G>

Yes, there is a shortage. They dont have enough for exports so they got to raise the prices here.

Ever try to calculate how much of that price is tax (at every level of production and distribution, besides the direct tax), and all of the idiotic regulations and legal barriers that eliminate sources and make production difficult to impossible? How long was it again since any new refineries were built? If the price they got for the actual product was that high, you'd think someone would enter the market... But nobody is allowed to do that, of course.

I think it's some sort of miracle we have any access to gasoline at all.

The direct tax on a gallon, at least here in L.A., is about $1.25 per gallon. That includes only fed and state fuel taxes and sales taxes. There are of course other taxes as ML has mentioned.
Here's a blog that addresses the real reason behind high gas prices. FSW and FSP are also mentioned in one of the posts.

Diesel has been so high, I have'nt driven my Dodge with the Cummins in several weeks. When we have to go anywhere we take her Subaru. Diesel has been right at $4/gallon almost all winter here. Btween the cost of a new pickup and fuel prices, I've decided there are'nt too many places I want to go. We wait until we have a good sized list of things we need before we go into town. Im curious what fuel prices will be this summer.

The Town Pump here in Casper sells ethanol free, but only low and mid grade.  Considering whether I should, the subaru turbo wants 91 octane, but the pure will be better for it anyway.
